At the center of email marketing is the concept of helping people. How to use email marketing for small business is basically an ongoing brainstorming session for ways to help people.
Email marketing to buyers
The best way how to use email marketing for small business owners is to help anyone who ever purchased anything from you. Help people with your kind of problems get the next step figured out.
How?
Send email to your buyers.
Seriously. Your email can help people with valuable information. Stuff that you know inside out!
Email can include links or attachments, even details of other services that you’d like to introduce to them. Offer an information gift that provides the next step in value after what was purchased.
If your buyer just got transportation from you by buying a vehicle you might send them a video clip of you cleaning that vehicle. You can point out areas that many people may miss, such as cleaning the inside of windshields or the tops of batteries.
Email marketing for word of mouth
In challenging economic times, you can chase word of mouth referrals aggressively with email.
How?
Include a coupon for getting their car detailed along with a first oil and filter change for a buck if they set an appointment a week in advance.
Then train your phone folks to invite callers to fill in tomorrow's empty spots if that's better for the buyer.
Succeed online by helping people. People talk -- that's how this turns into word of mouth!
Email marketing when buyer purchased...
(1) Your information product
What can you send if the first purchase was an information product about safely using a gadget? How about an information product showing how to safely oil, dry and store that gadget?
(2) Your services
How can you give when the first purchase was service oriented? How about an information product showing how to apply your already delivered services in other areas?
(3) Your physical product
How can you give valuable tips when your buyer purchases? How about email that offers a video of you showing the owner’s manual? Maybe set up scenes for common problems buyers experience. How to get a clean windshield, a change in temperature, music or hot seats.
Email marketing to visitors

(1) How to get people who visit to come back

You'll be ready when you're ready Penny. Starting before that will only frustrate you. Thanks for stopping by.
Great article Cynthia. You're making a believer of me. I always wonder who it is appropriate to send an email too. If you have an article on that please let me know. thanks for sharing
Thanks John. Ask and you shall receive:-) Here are three of my articles on Street Articles to help start you with that: (1) "3 Tips For How To Start Email Marketing" (2) "How Can I Do Permission Based Email Marketing When I Don’t Have Any Lists Yet?" (3) "How Do You Go Faster With Email Mailing List Building?" Thanks for your comment and request. Glad you're here. blessings, Cynthia
Another enjoyable article Cynthia. I was thinking as I read that you were thinking 'out of the box' which really means that what you were making me do! Thanks again.
You're welcome Heather. Appreciate your comments:-)
Thanks for the article Cynthia, am beginning to put email addresses together from all over the world, so that when the program is ready we can begin by letting a golf courses know... keep all your articles as we as a team learn something from every one... Thanks Dear...
You're welcome Rob. Don't skip the part about getting permission to send email! Glad you're doing well. Thanks for your compliments and for being here!
Our first email will be an introduction with a request for further contact, that way we know we won't be wasting time at places that aren't interested...
Ah... but without permission you'll be pooping all over people who don't know who you are. People won't recognize the fertilizer value so to speak. I'd encourage you to send a simple postcard with a simple website page that's your squeeze page that delivers that first information. That way if they're not interested they won't ask for more. And if they are - send an information gift that's essentially tips from your expertise mixed in with references to your software. As in tippy tip tipity is a quick way to save money - and if you want to save more, our software saveity save saves by blipity blip.
