Your home based business and email marketing today gives you a unique opportunity to automate almost everything. In previous times it was almost impossible to get everything done without a host of employees, however, change is happening and more new systems are on the way for the home business entrepreneur.
A major change is obviously the high tech computers available today and what one person can do through automation. You can enter a new customer name and address, add other pertinent information, spouse's name, age, gender, birthday, etc and it's there to use over and over.
One huge problem does trouble us about using automation! IF you put anything into your computer system incorrectly [wrong!] it's wrong forever! Sure, you can "fix" it if somebody tells you but somebody has to notice there is an error or it just repeats over and over every time you send a new message.
For example, my name is spelled [ei] but gets [ie] often along with Dan vs Don. Once email begins wrong it stays wrong 99% of the time. Obviously, the original data entry clerk made the error unintentionally that gets repeated over and over. Just something to be aware of as you build your business.
As you might guess, very few people misspell names anymore than the next person. Send a letter to Mr. Dan when it should be to Mr. Don.... count me out, I'm no longer your customer or prospect. OK, just maybe, if you're sending me a bonus for $500 I'll probably cash the check. I'm just trying to impress anyone who does email marketing to be careful with names, verify, verify, verify the input.
You get the point, right? Verification that the data entered is correct makes sense. One wrong letter in a customers name can turn them into a non-customer for the future.
Most of us remember the "good ole days" as NOT so good for running a home based business. Now, you can send email letters whenever you have a message for your customers or prospects. Sending a message to 2500 or 10,000 is no problem with the auto-responder. Staying in touch with your customers and prospects is the driving force behind new sales and hopefully profits for your home based business.
Statistics indicate that it takes 5 to 7 contacts with a prospect BEFORE the average person will take notice and consider hearing your message and hopefully making a purchase. Unfortunately, the average salesperson gives up long before reaching the 5 to 7 contacts plateau. Most sales people give up way too early and pay heavily in lost income potential.
One very important emailing service is provided by an auto-responder vendor. The cost for this service is nominal for the home business entrepreneur. Your task is to make sure the data entry work is correct, that all names, addresses are verified. Name separation into specific interests groups is our key to success. Simply do not over email or you'll get lots of deletes from your lists.
Too many emails or too few is tough to gauge for any business. Sending 2 or 3 of the same message on the same day is not a good idea in my opinion. You know your own services, products and your customer so this decision is in your corner to decide. Test it if you need confirmation is our best advice. An automated system is a huge change agent for the home business owner.
