What Every Small Business Owner Should Know About Web Email Marketing

The advantages of web email marketing are that it is inexpensive, fast and effective. It also reaches many people and you can personalize your marketing to suit you.

We are going to cover just a few ways to bring web email marketing into your business marketing plan. E-Newsletters, emailing promotional materials, quick announcements, discount vouchers, competitions, offering how to courses via email, surveys, are all web email marketing methods. Just chose one to start with and go from there. Let’s explain each method:

E-Newsletters:

Newsletters via email are great for building your client database. Sending people updates on a regular basis helps people remember your products and services. If you offer helpful well written information, you will gain customer loyalty and referrals from happy readers. Since readers need to opt in for a Newsletter, it is a good indication that they are interested in your product or service. Don’t abuse their trust ensure you provide a Newsletter rich with good content.

Emailing promotional materials, announcements, discount vouchers and competitions:

In the past you may have done a glossy flyer mail drop. Now you can send your special offers, vouchers and competitions via email and have them link back to your website. You can reach more people and if have your Database maintained and in categories, it is a great way to market to individual groups.

Emailing DIY or how to courses via email:

Another way to build your Database list is to offer a “DIY Course” or “How to” course. Clients love free information that is useful and easy to follow. The courses could be in the format of videos or PDF Manual. You could of course be mentioning the products and services you offer during the course. If you get a good response, why not create your very own eBook and sell direct to your client base. (That subject can be saved for another article.)

Thankyous and Surveys:

Sending a Thank You email after each purchase is a great way to keep in touch. You could then provide the option to join your Newsletter or complete a Survey on your service. Surveys are a great way to find out any problems people may be experiencing and discover what your clients enjoy.

As mentioned these are just a few web email marketing techniques that can help expand your business and retain your current clients. If you were to start implementing just two of these methods, I am sure you will see an increase in business and client retention.
