Goals are dreams that we want to achieve within a certain period of time. This may be days, weeks, months or even years. People associate the beginning of the year as the best time to plan for the entire year. These are called New Year’s resolutions. They are a list of all the things that you would want to do by the time the year ends. Short term goals usually affect our day to day life since they are achieved much easily than the long term goals. Psychologist Brisbane recommends having short term goals and seeing them through.

Tips On How To Plan Your Short Term Goals

• Start by thinking of the little things that you would want to do. These can also include things that you would want to change about your life. Start with the very minimal ones going up.

• You should then allocate specific time for the different goals that you have written down.

• You can have more than one goal in the same time period. This is because short term goals usually complement each other. This is also another tip. If they complement each other, put them I the same time span. This will save you a lot of time.

• Short term goals are normally financially related. So write your financial plans in this stage. Some of the short term financial goals include paying off debts in terms of credit cards and such.

• You should also ensure that you have detailed on how you plan to reach the set goal. This will keep you in the right track and you will also be able to see what works for you and what does not.

• Keep a record of the goals that you have achieved as a way of encouragement;

After you set your short term goals, you will have to see them through. Some of them might take longer than others but ensure that you use the time period that you have set for yourself as a guide. So how will you know the goals that you have are short term? There are a few questions that you can ask yourself to this effect.

According to psychologist Brisbane, ask yourself the following questions in regards to each goal that you have:

• How long will it take to achieve this goal?

• How important is achieving this goal?

• Will this goal help in achieving my long term goals?

• How does this goal relate to my other short term goals?

• If I do not achieve this goal, what will be the outcome?

• What will be the outcome if I achieve this goal?

Short term goals are just as important as long term goals. You should therefore be keen when setting and planning them.
