In the modern business world, employers have come to embrace the importance of employee involvement and engagement which in itself is a conditio sine qua non for effective performance. The reader will concur that companies that implement policies related employee participation in every day operations of the company as well as decision making accumulate more profits. In the same vein, such employers are able to keep productive employees for a longer time. This is what has been referred to as talent retention that is fundamental to both the employer and employee.
The focus is the degree to which participation of employees may create a good platform for profit maximization. In future, the author will present how employee involvement and participation in management decision making would enhance customer retention and satisfaction. Therefore, it can be seen that this aspect has major contributions to the company apart from profit maximization.
So, how does this relationship take place? In all ways, the employees serve as the hub of innovation for any company. They are actually the ones that constitute the greater part of the company's functions. For instance, a machine used for production in Company X will need human intelligence to meet the intended business goals. Simply put, it will need to be operated by a person. This as trivial as it might look is exactly what happens when employees are given an opportunity to participate in the decision making of the company. It means the moment they go about their duties with determination, fulfilled and with a sense of belonging, they will end up doing or giving their utmost best. This translates into improved production hence quality products and services.
Now, the reader may not yet have seen the relevance of employment law in the matter discussed above. The author has began by demonstrating the importance of employee involvement and engagement. So, how does employment law fit in? It simply makes the value of employee participation in decision making a legal requirement. It, therefore, becomes a duty to the employers and a right to employees. Well, it may seem untenable as a legal process or requirement but at the end of the day a government that legalizes the matter simply does so as a way to enhance economic development through entrepreneurship.
In general, employment law should have provisions that emphasize enough the relevance of having the employees take part in decision making because that not only empower them in their career but also create a workplace that protects their rights as persons. Therefore, a legal approach to the matter makes current ideologies associated with employee participation and involvement more focused and goal oriented.
