How to Live A Happy Healthy Life?

At one time or another, we step back and ask ourselves: am I happy with my life? What does it take to have a happy and healthy life? I guess you can say that the answer might be different for every individual, but there are some things that can help guide you to the point of being happy AND healthy. I will share with you a few things that can help guide you toward a happy and healthy life.

Appreciating What Life Has to Offer

First of all, having a happy and healthy life doesn’t mean you need to have a lot of money. Yes, money can help make your life a little more comfortable, but that doesn’t mean it will make you happy. We are so caught up with wanting more and more things that we fail to appreciate what we already have. If you ever get a chance to travel to countries that are not as wealthy as the United States, you will see that many people live a very happy and healthy life with only a meager earning. So, it’s not about the money, but it’s about appreciating what you have in life. Learn to appreciate your family because you only have one. My family gets together almost every weekend and that brought us so much closer to each other. Appreciate the things we have and be happy with it. SO WHAT if there are things you want? It’s okay to have that, but it’s also okay to know that sometimes we can’t always get what we want. Why not focus on what we have and be happy with that? There are many people all over the world that don’t have what we have. If we always want more, we will never truly be happy with what have have.

Having a Positive Attitude

Having the right attitude is another thing you need to look at in order for you to have a happy healthy life. Many people tend to look at the glass half empty when they should look at the glass half full. We always find the fault in things or complain about how bad things are rather than looking at the brighter side of things. Instead of having a negative attitude when something doesn’t go your way just find something good out of it or move on. Why worry about things that you can’t control? When our attitude is sour, we can cause undue stress. And of course, stress can affect your health. So, if you can reduce the stress in your life, you will be happier and healthier in the process.

Trying New Things

Along with having a positive attitude, being open to trying new things is another way to be happy. Many people are so scared to try new things that it limited them from truly experiencing what life has to offer. Everyone has a list of things they would love to try, but unless they follow through with acting on this list, they will never truly be satisfied with their life. Why live your life wondering IF you could have done this or that? Just go out there and try it. One of the things I love to do is eat. So, my goal is to try as many different types of foods as I can wherever I go. I can give you a long list of strange foods I’ve tried, but why keep track when the list is really limitless? I don’t really have a list because I figured it will continue to grow as long as I am still breathing. So get out there and try something new.

Staying Active & Balanced Diet

Alright, so I’ve only talked about being happy. What about being healthy? Well, if you’re happy, you tend to be healthier in the process. Of course a little exercise won’t hurt. In this case, you don’t need to spend hours and hours in the gym or day after day. So many people think that being healthy means working out 4-5 times a week and going on diets. The truth is, staying active and doing light exercises is fine. Going for walks, biking around the park, going dancing, planting a garden, you name it…anything that requires physical activities = staying active. Why force yourself to work out at the gym when you can enjoy doing fun things? As for the eating part, it’s not about what types of food so much as eating in moderation. If we over eat, naturally our body will be affected. Just eat the right amount of food and enjoy. Don’t limit yourself. Having too much of something is not healthy, but not having any at all is just as bad. Keep yourself balanced and eat 5 – 6 times a day.

So, being happy is not about having a lot of money. Just appreciate the things we have in life, having a positive attitude, allow yourself to try new things, and staying active with a balanced diet are the keys to living a happier and healthier life. When you are able to do all these things, you will find that you will be much happier and healthier.
