I meet more and more people of my age (I was 53 last week ugh) who say how unhappy they are in their job but they couldn't leave because 'at my age' it seems I'm unemployable.
What a horrible predicament in which to find yourself.
I was a teacher for nearly 20 years and adored my job. I had always felt lucky to be able to get up in the morning and think about the positive day I was going to have. And then, as they say, the proverbial hit the fan.
To cut a long story short, I gave up teaching and became unemployed. There seems to be a misconception that if you have earned a degree, you must want to do stressful and professional jobs. I've been turned down for so many jobs because I was 'over qualified'.
It was time for Plan B, well to plan for Plan B.
Looking for jobs on the internet is, in my opinion, a thankless task and it didn't bring me any luck in finding a job but what it did do was show me alternative opportunities.
The initial journey into internet marketing was filled with a plethora of scams and con artists and what was worse was that I fell for some of them. They seem to lure you in and before you know it, you don't have a business but they have made more money in their business.

Being 50 years old has brought its own challenges but starting from scratch in the business world is not one of them. I don’t think this is quite the forum for discussing the ‘challenges’. Working through all the challenges that life throws at you is a great learning process, sometimes sad, sometimes frustrating, but still a learning process.
I want to have a life that gives me financial freedom, gives me time to relax, opportunities to see my family and friends and to begin this new and exciting phase of my life.
Being 50 (or 53) isn’t the end of the world. Your life is in your hands so make your life happen. The World Wide Web is a wonderful place for learning, good and bad.
The prospects are limitless so go out there and grab them.
I turned 53 earlier this month. Yeah, kinda "ugh" but hey ........ I've been at my place of work for 32 years ..... hanging on for, I kinda hope, early retirement. But the paycheque provided me with one or two trips a year. Can't complain too much I suppose. Happy 53!
