Heliostats - Sun for Every Home

Heliostats are best known as "those big mirrors that direct sunlight for solar power plants with concentrated solar energy."

It is a long name for one usual mirror, right? Here to give a more general definition: heliostat is a device that contains a mirror, usually flat mirror, which revolves around the axis in order to continually direct the sunlight onto a particular purpose, thereby offsetting the movement of the sun upon our sky. In brief, whenever you need to constantly directing the sunlight to something, then you probably need heliostat.

The company Wikoda Inc. U.S. came up with the idea to produce heliostats for home use, whereby people could increase the amount of natural daylight that enters their home, which reduces to use artificial light, or lights.

The company said that earlier heliostats cost a few thousand dollars and were suitable only for research, which is far from budget effectively replacing the lighting in the home. But for its new product the company say is cheap enough and easy to be economically viable for residential use.

- Single heliostat reflects about 50000 lumen light and can fully enhance the ambiance in the rooms - emphasize in the company.

As a reminder, a regular 75 W light bulb from a renowned manufacturer provides about 1000 lumen brightness. Its equivalent in the amount of transmitted light in thrifty bulbs (from the same manufacturer) is a lamp of 18 W. Meaning that a heliostat can replace about 50 of these bulbs, while allowing you a decent savings, with which heliostat becomes an investment with a really fast time of return.

Although at first glance seem complicated to work with, the company assured that unlike industrial heliostats, for their residential devices does not needs programming or some scientific knowledge. Computer, servo motors for movement and light sensors are all embedded in the system. No need of batteries or power cable, because the system is powered by solar energy through integrated photovoltaic. Everything you need for installing the device is an ordinary screwdriver, pliers and lit corner of the yard.

From Wikoda Inc. noticed that people who have purchased this system not only used for rooms lighting but also for growing plants, melting snow from the roof, dry timber, dry damp walls, etc..

The product was primarily intended for the U.S. market, but the company received daily orders from other places and is now available in Australia, Asia and most European countries. Now it could be purchased at a cost of $ 400.
