There are many different ways of saving energy in todays economy and the one I would like to discuss is LED Lighting. There are big rewards if you're willing to invest a bit of time and read on, but first I bit of history.
Since the beginning of Light-Emitting Diode (LED) in 1907, when the first LED light was produced and it was the size of the end of a needle. I'm sure the inventors envisioned that one day in the future we would be using LED as our main artificial light source. It was their dreams and now it is becoming our reality. When the real LED Light came to life in the mid to late seventies, the progress we made with the Research and Development of new technology along the way, we are able to go forward and make LED lighting more efficient way of saving energy in our lives.
A few reasons why you should change to LED
When you touch a lighted LED bulb it's not hot, it doesn’t emit excessive heat like the others. LED Lighting in your life saves you energy and money on your hydro bill at the end of the year. LEDs last 20 times longer than incadescent bulbs and saves you money with long term use. Eventually, we won’t be left with any other choice than to convert to energy saving LED lights. If you combine them with Solar cells you have a very efficient light source and you’re "OFF the grid". Africans are lighting there lives and homes with Solar-powered LED lights and China is reducing their environmental footprint by converting to LED lighting in their cities and lives.
A few reasons why LEDs are not so popular
The reasons why LEDs cost more is because of the rare-earth elements used to produce the super bright LEDs, however the scientists are researching cheaper alternative such as silicone to produce the same or better effects. The oversized LED bulbs are also a reason why there not very popular and the manufactures R&D are working on sizes that will fit our already existing fixtures. At the moment only 10 percent of the world is using LED to light their homes, however, they’re predicting by the year 2020 the world population using LED will be at 60 percent.
Some Cities around the world have already changed their Street lights, Traffic lights and some of the large industrial factories have changed to LED to conserve on their large energy bills. The advertising companies have changed the large electronic billboards to LED. The Dentistry businesses have been using Specialized LEDs for years already.
We will be using LED lighting to light our homes and businesses. The Manufactures R&D will continue researching the most cost effective ways of lighting our lives with LEDs. The Manufacturers are making the LED lights more effective for our lives at home in producing a warmer spectrum of light and bringing the production cost down for the consumers. You will save money in the long run, don’t get caught up in trying to save money on buying the LED products from overseas companies, they compromise the products longevity by manufacturing the LED bulbs with cheaper components. If we do each do our part in trying to reduce the environmental footprint eventually LED lighting will one day become part of our lives.
