What Does My First Job Taught Me About Life And Survival?

Even the smallest can conquer the greatest.

Hi guys, I’m not sure what to right and share this morning. Sometimes you have all this ideas and then you forgot the moment you’re in front of your desktop. So going out for a walk is the least to do on my mind but eventually I did.

I walk through the market and buy a new cell case, then to the clothes stuff part. While making a bargain with the sales lady I’m wondering how does she convinced me to buy all this. I smiled as I remember my self how good I’m before in attracting customers convincing them to buy and eventually ended up having good sales for the day.

Yes, I was 12 when I decide to left home and find my destiny in the city. I live with my aunt. I finished High School by working in the morning and studying at night or vice versa. During University years I was able to pass a scholarship but I still need to work to live and survive.

That’s how I went into a small souvenir shop to earn extra money for food and other school things. I spent my free time and weekends there. It is where I do my assignments and study as well for exams.

Honestly, I’m not a sociable person; they call me a shy one. But I manage to get customers, how?

I make my customer very comfortable

I started by greeting them with a smile. I have my own problem and worries that tomorrow I won’t have something to buy food or to pay a drafting template but I set them aside.

When you go to departments stores are you irritated sometimes by the saleslady who always on your back asking what are you going to buy and keep on offering you to buy this? Sometimes I am because they make me feel uncomfortable even though I’m still looking for the right product for me.

“Welcome, get in, please feel free to look around and if you need anything, just call me”. I think whenever someone stood on the front door those words automatically come out from me. I had learned to interpret my customers behavior and action, when they seems to be interested and looking for other choices, I was there immediately to give them other colors and design.

I show them that I love what I’m doing

I make the store very pleasant to see. I wrapped their items carefully. Whether it may cause a lost in a sale or not, I told them honestly what they have to know. Like for example, this item should be eaten within a week or this is not a quite a good one in terms of quality.

Patience

Not all customers are kind too, but I was able to hold my temper and emotion. Sometimes I just laugh at it and play like a kid by saying “Oh sorry I really cannot give your price, I have to pay the shortage If you insist”. “Sorry for not to be able to meet your expectation, would you to consider different product”. Or I just smile and shrug after; I don’t let those things come into my head.

Ability to Make a Bargain

I love this thing. “Please add a little bit more”. Or the famous buy two take one. “Can we meet at this price? We are on half even”. I was able to do this but as a buyer now and I tell you I always get the best price in the market.

Say Thank you and Come Back Again

Whether you make a sale or not as soon as they leave I thanked them graciously.

So what, this is such an ordinary event in the market, right?

Yes it is, but being once in the foot of a person in front of you, we should know how to act better and appropriately because we have an idea what it takes for them to patiently stand there.

Because we know and we experience it, we should be more considerate and kind to them.

And if we don’t know anything about, then we should be cautious and careful and judging others.
