With college being so expensive these days, and the job market being short on jobs. It could be time for parents to start looking at things in a different light. It seems more and more our structural system is letting us down. So we need to start taking things in our own hands. Lets take a look at what we can do to make our children's future better.
Now I am not parent, and have not the slightest clue of how to be a good one. So please do not take this as someone who does not have kids, preaching to them how to raise their kids. It is just an opinion of what I would try to do if I had kids. Its just a thought, can't have to many of those, right?
Anyways, maybe when your child gets old enough. Around 14 or 15, when they start thinking about their future. Find out what interests them. Even if it is video games which is probably popular among most kids. If they like music and want to be in a band. They like to take photos. Some kids even like to write. I mean they should with all the IM's and texting they do,right?
Then in a fun way get them to start thinking of it like a potential business when they get older. Don't force them, just a little nudge might work. So if your kid is interested in science, maybe you could get him to record all of the stuff he/she blows up (as long as its not the house) and upload it on a there very own website. Every time they find something cool and do an experiment they can record it online. Who knows maybe they will invent something by 18 and be set for the rest of their lives.
Same with someone who is into music or movies. They can post all of their songs that their band did not like and see if some one else wants to buy the rights to the song. The kids that like movies can make their own homemade movies and upload them and see if anyone likes them. Maybe junior high and high schools could put in a extra curricular activity after school to help them.
I am sure some people, and their kids are doing this already. I think it could be a good way to get steady stream of income by the time they graduate and go off to college. Even possibly having their own business by the time they graduate high school or college. This way people do not have to rely on a system that seems to only care about money and not improving the quality of our country and our children s future.
