Are You Even A Survivalist Or A Prepper?

When you think of your preps and your future survival, which is more important to you? A lot of people claim to be "survivalists", yet all they do is acquire a wide range of gear and equipment. Many call themselves "preppers" but only fantasize about being a lone warrior some day. Whether you are a survivalist or a prepper, you need to be able to identify with who you are, what your objective is and what your individual goals are moving forward.

So-called "Preppers"

A lot of people will basically go out, buy a bag, throw in some gear and call themselves "preppers". However, what type of gear are they buying? Do they have a plan on how to use it when an emergency strikes? Unfortunately, many do not. This is, in fact, a dangerous mindset to have.

The reason this is a dangerous mindset to have is because of one word: illusion. Not only would you be doing the wrong things, you would have the illusion that you are doing exactly all the right things. When an emergency hits, such as an earthquake, flood, hurricane, wildfire or even terrorism, you would quickly find out you are not prepared. This would put your survival and the lives of your loved-ones in jeopardy very quickly.

So-called "Survivalists"

So, are you a "survivalist"? Many people think they are survivalists, yet they are not. Many people will watch Survivorman, Man vs. Wild and Ultimate Survival, read a few books, browse through some websites and then suddenly imagine that they are then "survivalists".

However, what happens when an emergency takes place and these so-called "survivalists" find out they have no idea what it takes to actually survive? Once again, this is the idea of illusion, the perception of reality. These survivalists are putting their survival, the very thing they believe they will be strong in, in jeopardy.

Summary

So while you may think you're a prepper, but are you? You may believe you're a "survivalist", but are you? There are a lot of misconceptions about what a prepper or survivalist is, and most have been popularized by our culture and media outlets.

Consider this a call to action. When an emergency hits, there will be many who are unprepared and will be desperate. However, there will also be many with a large amount of supplies, gear and stockpiles who will not only not know how to use it, but will likely be the victims of those who were not prepared. So, check yourself. Make sure you know what it is you are going after and what you are doing to get there.

Be safe. Prepare, thrive and survive, at any cost.
