Global Warming happens to be one of the hot button topics on the agenda of our global leaders. Sadly though, the ability to emphasize our responsibility to the environment, whilst making it a practical task to the average human, often times elludes them It is believed that many more people would be inclined to CREATE products from recycled materials if they were better equipped with ideas and resources.
ART IS A VEHICLE … DRIVE IT!
Through ART, we can all give back to the environment, and possibly receive monetary incentives while we are at it. There are clear ways to recycle that gives a dividend, that most of us are already familiar with, such as bottle deposits, newspaper recycling, etc. In this article, I am proposing that we CREATE new products out of old or used ones, that will be sold, traded, or utilised by us ourselves. In this article, we are going to explore products that were created from recycled products and become inspired to Create Our Own.
As you will realise, the ideas provided in this segment are gathered from many different sources as is credited below. My goal here is to create a dialog that will serve as a reservoir, that will inform, inspire and assist us all, in playing our part in SAVING THE ENVIRONMENT.
HOLIDAY DECORATION
I will begin by sharing an incident that took place a couple years ago, that I found quite inspiring. It was Christmastime, and I was traveling along Red Hills Road, in Kingston, Jamaica. Christmas lights and streamers decorated everywhere and everything. That was when I saw the most amazing sight. There it was – a tree decorated with used Red Bull cans. No electricity was required as the shiney chrome cans acted as a reflector to the lights emitted from the passing motorists. Ingenious idea, wouldn't you say? Not only did this solution eliminate additional spending regarding the electric bill, but it also gave NEW purpose to the Red Bull cans.
PANT LEG TO TOTE
As a mother, you learn how to turn your hand to made fashion – sometimes, simply out of necessity. As my daughters were outgrowing their jeans pants, it did not take much to be convinced that I could easily turn them into fashionable jeans short. The conundrum however, was what to do with all these pant legs. It was at this point I realised that I could MAKE cute little tote bags that would not only match their shorts, but was fashionable enough to take along pretty much anywhere. Now, I have two girls, but do not be discouraged if you have boys. Boys will love bags that are able to transport their soccer gears, baseball equipment, etc. It only means using ‘more pant legs’… :D
What about you? What product have YOU seen, that instead of being discarded, was injected with new life? Share below in the comment box provided, so that together we can make a difference in facilitating the welfare of Our Environment.
