Deciding To Get Healthy

I don't like using the term "working out" simply because I think it's part of the human pysche to only hear the word "working" and thing of it as being a chore or job.

I prefer the term "getting healthy" because I instantly think of something positive and I think that's the kind of mindset it takes to actually succeed when it comes to accomplishing a goal.

Your Decision to Get Healthy

Becoming healthy isn't something another person can do for you. You have to want it for yourself. It doesn't matter how encouraging your loved ones are, if you're not motivated enough to step up and take charge of your decisions, then you're never going to accomplish anything, let alone getting healthy.

If you've made the decision to get healthy, congratulations! You've made a decision that will enlighten you about your body and provide challenges that you'll feel amazing to be able to accomplish.

Deciding to get healthy is probably one of the most common goals that people make year after year. Unfortunately, it's also a common goal that many never reach due to not having the right mindset.

Having a Healthy Mindset

Having a healthy mindset sounds easy or simple. In a way it is, but the key is knowing why you're deciding to get healthy.

A healthy mindset means you're able to understand the journey you've decided to take and you're willing to put forth the effort in discovering how you can succeed without giving up.

When your body is sore the morning after an intense fitness session, a healthy mindset is knowing how to minimize the aches and pains that result from your body not being familiar with physical activity.

Do your research. Research the fitness program you'd like to give a try and know what your body can and can't handle. It's going to be an enlightening experience for you.

The Negative Mentality

There will be days during your fitness journey that you're going to want to abandon your journey all together. This is the negative mentality trying to kick in and it's your job to stop it.

A lot of people wake up the day after a fitness session, feel how sore their bodies are and tell themselves they've overdone it and that they should probably take the day off.

Had these individuals known that sore and stiff muscles were common when their body isn't used to physical activity, they would have more than likely known to drink more water and keep at their program in order to counter the soreness and stiff muscles.

Maintaining Your Position

For those of you who have successfully made the decision to get healthy, that's great. Now the trick is to stay there by keeping in mind your reasons for choosing this journey.

Whether your reasons are health related or you're looking to build self esteem, write down your reasons in a place you can see them and remind yourself daily to work toward your goals.

Take the time every day, even if you have to give up a little television time. It's okay!

You're going to receive a much bigger feeling of accomplishment once you've completed your fitness journey than you can ever get from an episode of Family Guy.
