Free Exercises For Weight Loss

Losing weight can be an expensive proposition. Healthy food tends to cost more. Gym memberships are not exactly cheap. If you go the home route, you have to buy expensive equipment AND have a place to workout. It seems like the odds are stacked against you. But, what if you could use free exercises for weight loss? You can be healthy and save money at the same time!

The easiest and cheapest exercise for losing weight is simply walking. You don’t need any special equipment, just a pair of shoes. Some people even do it barefoot, although I wouldn’t recommend it. You don’t have to go marathon distances, just get out there and move. Ideally you want to get your heart rate up to a moderate level for at least 20 minutes. Try walking at a pace where your breathing is increased but you can still hold a conversation. This will get your blood flowing and burn off some of those pesky calories.

Once you start making some progress, you might advance to running. You certainly don’t NEED to as walking will give you the same results. However, running will give you results even faster. I would suggest investing in some actual running shoes if you do that so your foot gets the proper support.

Another easy exercise, or couple of exercises, is sit-ups and push-ups. You don’t need any special equipment, just some room on the floor. The important thing is to watch your form and make sure it is correct.

When doing push-ups it’s ok if you can’t hold yourself up and have to drop to your knees, just make sure you keep your back straight and abs tight. You will get stronger and be able to do regular push-ups before you know it.

During sit-ups, be sure not to use your hip flexors to pull yourself up. If you are doing sit-ups and your legs are getting tired, you are using the wrong muscles. Really concentrate on using your abs to perform the exercise. You should feel ‘the burn’ in your abdomen.

Lastly, if you are looking for a good full body burn, combine several exercises into one. An example of this would be a ‘burpee’. Start off in a squatting position. Kick your feet straight back and do a pushup. Pull your feet back under you to a squatting position and jump straight up in the air, stretching your arms above you. When you land, go back down to a squatting position. That’s ONE! Do sets of these as fast as you can and you will be burning calories like a furnace.

As you can see, there are many free exercises for weight loss. The few I touched on here barely scratch the surface of what’s possible, but you can take these basic movements and make many variations. The best part is, there’s no special equipment required so you can get a great, fat burning workout without spending any money.
