Kettlebell Kickboxing DVD

Kettlebell kickboxing is growing rapidly in popularity and their new DVD "Kettlebell Kickboxing Scorcher Series" is enjoying equal limelight.

What is it that makes this routine a cut above the rest? That is what I am going to be covering in this article, along with a comparison to other popular women's workout routines.

What Is Kettlebell Kickboxing?

Created by Dasha Libin in New York City, the women only course was created to make a routine that would enable women to get toned, burn calories quickly (around 1,000 an hour or 500 in 25 minutes!) while utilizing a combination of martial arts and the Kettlebell to achieve this in a fun way that did not necessarily require a lot of prior expertise.

How Does It Work?

Kickboxing and Kettlebells are both best suited for circular, swinging motions that stretch and elongate the muscles, while not being too intense or difficult. You don't need to be a hardcore gym goer or weight lifter to enjoy this routine. Think of it more as aerobics on steroids.

One thing that took me by surprise was that many of them women who attended the live classes in NYC would sign-up for multiple classes in a row. Some of them attended two or three back to back and said that once they had finished one class they felt refreshed and pumped up for another one.

This resonated to me because while it is no surprise that exercise leaves you feeling refreshed, many routines and workouts of this nature, ones designed to burn calories and build toned muscles, are usually very intensive and leave the participant feeling exhausted. You get the results but it almost kills you. With Kettlebell Kickboxing this doesn't appear to be the case, and now that the whole routine is available on DVD, you can do it from the comfort of your own home, and then get on with your day, rather than get on with collapsing.

How Does It Stack Up?

Originally I had thought to compare this workout to P90X and Insanity For Women but after doing more research I realized that it wasn't going to be a realistic comparison. P90X is one of the aforementioned routines that kills you while achieving its results. It is incredibly popular, but everybody who does it talks about how much they ache and "feel it" while on the program.

The same could be said for Insanity for women. Like the name suggests, this is another very intense exercise that requires a lot of commitment and exhaustion in order to achieve the results.

While those two programs are very popular and successful, I think Kettlebell Kickboxing appeals to women who want to get the same results, but don't want to kill themselves in the process. It is also a lot more accessible, having a range of different routines for beginners, advanced, even one for those with bad knee joints. What's more, some of the exercises are pretty straightforward to perform and will appeal to a lot of people.

My Kind Of Exercise

I hate "exercise for the sake of it", going to the gym and pumping iron, running on the monotonous treadmills or using the rowing machines. I always get too impatient awaiting the results and inevitably stop going. I have since discovered that I love exercise when it is not the key aspect of the activity.

Things like sports or recreational exercise, cycling to a destination rather than on the spot in a gym for example, really appeal to me and I have grown to realize that the Kettlebell Kickboxing DVD is a similar sort of exercise. Since you are following a fun and passionate instructor and doing a varied routine, rather than just a monotonous workout, I think it is a lot more worthy of my five stars.

Street Talk

It sounds fun. How much space do you need to do the kickboxing in your own living room?

not a great amount, a couple of meters squared is enough, if you have a yoga mat or something similar it will be perfect!

they have a section for beginners and people with bad knees, I don't think there is a "50+" section because it isn't really needed

Yeah I think so, this really has appeal to those people who want good results (calorie burn) without having to be intense exercisers or weight lifters

I am very impressed with this calorie burn, with this amount of calories burned in such a short amount of time and no pain afterwards I see them becoming the new thing....we will see....

yeah, I think what makes them so popular right now, coupled with the calorie burn, is them being very accessible to beginners and well, everybody
