So here we are again and today I am talking about a Kettlebell workout DVD for women. That sounds like a bit of a mouthful but don't worry, it is probably the hardest thing you will have to read today.
If you are here reading this, chances are it is because you have been searching for a DVD exercise routine to compliment your Kettlebells. Whether that is because you are a complete beginner and don't know what you should be doing with these things or because you just want a new challenge, no problem there, I'm going to talk about my favorite DVD right here, and believe it or not, it is tailored to women. (I'm a pretty skinny guy OK!)
What Makes A Good DVD?
First I'd like to talk about some of the things that I believe make up a good workout DVD. There really are a lot of different ones out there, and it's important to make sure you choose one that is suitable for you.
- Accessibility - how easy is the DVD to perform for different skill levels?
- Affordability - is it going to be cheaper than gym membership?
- Diversity - does it focus on a range of different exercises and muscles?
- Enjoyability - does it feel too much like hard work and not enough reward?
You can feel free to add your own criteria to this list too, but I think those four should definitely be considered when making your choice.
Kettlebell Kickboxing
This workout routine started out as a course in NYC, where it still operates to sold out classes even now, but is also now available throughout the whole world via DVD. Correction, make that four DVDs.
The course creator, Dasha Libin, wanted to make her classes available for all levels, especially as a lot of people were unfamiliar with Kettlebells until recently. When she transferred the course onto DVD, she recorded a variety of different skill levels to make sure that the ability levels also transferred across. You will be able to stick in the DVD and select your difficulty level, no problem.
Each DVD focuses on a different thing. This is so that you can pick and choose what you want to target for the day, (if you don't have time to do the whole thing). You can also choose from a 25 or 60 minute exercises, allowing you to burn either 500 or 1,000 calories.
DVD ONE: POWER
This DVD works on arms, glutes, inner thighs, and obliques. It is designed to increase your overall power.
DVD TWO: STRENGTH
As well as strength, this DVD is designed to give total body fat loss.
DVD THREE: LONGEVITY
This one works on legs and midsection.
DVD FOUR: DIVERSITY
The final DVD targets abs, arms, and glutes.
What makes Dasha's program so different from others, is simple according to their FAQ page:
- It is not strictly a Kettlebell program
- It combines both aerobic and strength exercises
- It is the first program that combines the "total body" power and weight shifting principles of Kettlebells with martial arts, creating a unique system that does not exist anywhere else.
- Almost 80% of the moves in this DVD are trademarks of Kettlebell Kickboxing, so when I say unique, it really is unique.
It is all well and good being unique and combining many things, but you are probably after results, or you wouldn't be doing this whole working out thing in the first place, I know. But I did say this was my favorite DVD, so bear with me here if I get a bit excited explaining how it works.
The reviews and testimonials speak very loudly and as this new regime gains popularity and momentum, I expect to hear many more good things. I will be sure to keep you all updated.
As Kettlebell workout DVDs go, this one is also $20 cheaper than its rivals (naming no names), and as it is not strictly a Kettlebell workout, you will find it that could just become your favorite kettlebell DVD too.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this so welcome any comments or questions below. I am pretty good at answering promptly. Thanks for reading.
Those DVDs look good. Could make a great gift for my daughter who doen't get much time to go the gym since her baby arrived. Will this DVD program work without kettlebells or with other workout kit?
I like kettlebells, and kickboxing sounds fun, but do I need to have lots of cleared out space to do the routines?
