P90x Nutrition Guide: What You Need To Know

Aside from the 90 day workout plan, the P90X also implements a nutrition guide which is highly recommended to follow if you want to get the best results with this program. Without proper dieting, the workout results will be limited. Furthermore you are likely to counteract what the workouts are meant to do if you do not refuel your body correctly. This article will let you know about the P90X nutrition guide, how to get it and what to expect from this eating plan.

Overall the eating portion of the program lasts 90 days and works hand in hand with the workout. You eat anywhere from 3 or more times a day with unlimited amounts of the foods you are allowed to consume. Although there is a specific nutrition guide available online, there have been many people who have successfully completed this program and said that they only followed the basic idea of the diet.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with how the diet works, here is the basic summary:

1. There are 3 eating phases, each lasting 30 days long. As you switch from phase to phase, you also change how you eat.

2. You can only eat from 3 different food groups: Carbohydrates, protein & fat. But these food groups must be eaten in a specific ratio to gain maximum results.

3. During phase 1 (first 30 days of the program), you eat protein/carbs/fat in a 50/30/20 ratio. The next phase will be taken in a 40/40/20 ratio. Finally the last phase will taken in a 20/60/20 ratio. If you notice, the amount of carbs you ingest going from one phase into another increases. This is meant to push your body's fat burning to the maximum and give it energy to burn the remaining fat you have left.

Now there have been many people as mentioned earlier who opted out of following the specific nutrition guide this program uses. They just ate foods pertaining to each food group in the proper ratio and still claim to have the same results. In truth, it really can be done this way if you so choose or don't have time to devote to meal planning or cooking.

Overall the P90X nutrition guide is really optional to use. It's meant to be a reference more so than a mandatory part of the program. If you really need to get it, just Google the term and you'll be able to download the official PDF which lists all of the rules, tips and recipes. Even though the program does work well, there are potential dangers which you should be aware off, especially if you're a woman.
