P90x Workout Schedule

So, you have decided to join the millions of others who have already completed the fitness revolution. P90X is not just a workout program, it is a lifestyle changer. If you are ready to get started, you will need to start with a walk through with everything that comes in your box. One of those things will be your workout schedule. You will need to follow it to the letter to get your best results. The first month of the ninety day program is the same for everyone, however, there are some options that come up in the schedule for months two and three.

P90X works so well because of the way that your strength training, flexibility and cardio are all broken down for you. One day you will do your chest and arms and another day legs and back. One day will focus on your flexibility with either the stretch or yoga option and another is dedicated to your cardio fitness. That not only gives you the intense workout for each body part but also gives you a day or more of rest in between so that you minimize your risk of injury. Muscle growth actually happens during your rest- so you should never be doing only biceps every single day. Give your muscles the chance to rest and recover for maximum results.

During the first month, you will be working on getting used to working out and working out hard. You will have your stretching day but will also have a rest day. It is important that you actually take your rest day so your body recovers. Trust me, you will relish that rest day. If you would like to do some very light exercise that day, it is okay but it is better if you just take it easy for the day so that you are ready for the following week. Each week gets progressively more intense.

Once you hit month two, you have the option to mix up your P90X workout schedule. You can stick with the “classic” schedule which is the best option for those who are new to working out or are struggling in month one. A second option is the “doubles” where just as the name implies, you get two different workouts on the same day. Be honest with yourself. If you are sucking wind during every workout, you are not ready to double up. The third option is “lean” for people who want to maximize their weight loss.

If you make it to the ninety day mark, congratulate yourself and then send in your photos for your tee shirt. If you are happy with your current results, you can use P90X to maintain them or you can continue to work on your trouble spots with a hybrid program, using P90X and any other program that you would like.
