P90x Workout System

The P90X workout system is a combination of both exercise and proper eating mixed into a 90 day plan which is meant to transform your body. If done properly, meaning you eat correctly as instructed and workout to the best of your ability, you are very likely to see great results with this program.

Let's break down the system. Remember there are 2 parts: The nutrition and the workouts. Firstly the workouts:

The workout aspect of the P90x lasts for 90 days. You work out for 6 days out of the week and go through 12 different DVDs, 1 DVD each day. On each disk, you will just have to follow the instructions from the creator of the program Tony Horton. The exercises in the program include a combination of cardio workouts, mixed with strength training exercises, particularly push ups, weight lifting and pull ups. The whole goal is to create muscle confusion which is a form of training in which you mix exercises to target different muscle groups in an inconsistent basis.

If you are not in good shape to begin with, it is not recommended you try this program due to an increased risk of injury. If you still want to try it, it's recommended that you get into a decent shape before hand. This can easily be accomplished by doing exercises on a daily basis and just being consistent.

Now onto the second part of the system: The nutrition (Diet, eating plan, ect...). You can download an official eating plan off the internet. It's a PDF guide that will gives you basic rules, tips and recipes to use, but for the most part the eating portion of the program is divided into 3 phases, each lasting 30 days for a total of 90 days.

With each phase, you eat only from 3 different food groups: Protein, carbohydrates & fat. Where you get them from is up to you, but as long as you eat from these 3, you'll be followed the program. The difficulty if the proportions in which you're allowed to eat.

For example, during phase 1, you can only eat protein/carbohydrates/fat in a 50/30/20 ratio. The amount you eat is up to you, but as long as you remain within those confines. As you pass from phase to phase, you'll be increasing the amount of carbohydrates you eat and decreasing the amount of protein. This will increase fat burning and help you avoid any plateau in weight loss and fitness.

If you're going to try the P90X workout system, make sure you take the proper safety precautions and avoid common dangers that can arise from using this program.
