What is Pole Dancing?
Pole dance fitness is a challenging workout that combines cardio and strength training to make a well-rounded workout routine. Finding a good class will help build your confidence and melt that extra fat off in no time. Contrary to popular belief the women taking these classes are not training to become strippers they are athletes training their bodies to obey each command they give them.
I know this because I have been participating a great pole dance class for four months now, and worked hard to make it to the intermediate class in half the time it should take. The first time I saw one of the students gracefully hanging from a pole upside down with nothing but her legs holding her up I knew this was the sport for me.
Finding a Pole Dance Fitness Class
Finding a good class is the key to staying motivated and getting fit. Look for a teacher that has a lot of confidence and expects her students to treat each other with respect. Many new students become frustrated because they lack upper body strength and can’t pull themselves up on the pole. Having a class full of supportive students and a great instructor helps ease the fears of new students as they learn that each student starts at that point.
Don’t be afraid to ask a lot of question! Make sure the studio offers a trial class or lets you sit in on a typical class before making a final decision. Those interested in losing weight will want to make sure that there is a good cardio section in the workout. Never take a class that does not include a good warm up before jumping on the pole. Do not join a class where the instructor is not in control or allows students to make fun of newcomers.
How Pole Dancing has Changed My Life
It took a lot of courage to sign up for that first pole dance fitness class, but I was stuck in a rut and hated going to the gym. I needed something new I was still overweight and despite my best efforts I was not getting anywhere. I come from a very conservative background, yet when I looked up dance classes in my area pole dancing was the first thing that caught my eye. After watching a demonstration video that looked more like vertical gymnastics than dance, I said to myself if I can do that I can do anything I set my mind to.
Now I am down to a healthy weight and still losing fat but gaining a lot of muscle so the scale has been banished. I have lost about 3 dress sizes, 15 pounds and gained an unbelievable amount of physical and mental strength. Working out is no longer the dreaded activity it once was, it is something to look forward. My confidence levels are soaring and I even had the courage to start some ballroom dancing lessons. It has been the most challenging and rewarding experience in my life and I wouldn’t give it up for anything. After four months of intensive training I can hang upside down with no hand it is not graceful yet but it will be. I recommend pole dance fitness for anyone looking for a fun, challenging and sexy workout.
