The P90x Workout Plan

The P90X program is a program that combines 2 very important elements: Nutrition & workout. One cannot be complete without the other. Most people believe this program is just about the workout, but in truth, the dieting is just as important if not more so than the workout. The reason being is that without the proper nutrition to fuel muscle growth and regeneration, the workouts of the P90X workout plan will do more harm than good.

The nutrition portion of the workout lasts for 90 days and breaks down into 3 phases, all spanning for 30 days each. In each phase you eat an unlimited combination of proteins, carbohydrates & fat in a specific ratio daily. As you switch from one phase into another, the ratio changes to meet the workouts results effectively.

As for the workout aspect of the plan, it too lasts for 90 days. You complete a series of 12 DVDs on a daily basis, 6 times a week. In other words, 1 DVD a day. Each DVD features a specific workout ranging from strength training, to cardiovascular workouts and even plyometric workouts. Each workout lasts about an hour. It is the workout aspect of the program which most people tend to have problems with because it is very demanding and requires a lot of commitment.

Contrary to many photos on the internet which show excellent before and after pictures of men and women, there are a lot of people who quit this program due to it's difficulty. While it is very possible to complete, there are many people who decide to try it to experiment with themselves. Unfortunately, a big negative is if you're in bad shape to begin with, you'll have a tremendous amount of difficulty handling this program for the 90 days.

The good news is that if you do complete the program, there are very good odds that you will see a very good transformation in your body. However, it is also highly important to be very careful when doing this program due to the high likely hood of injury. Make sure to stretch, drink plenty of water and take breaks when you feel the need to.

Many people push themselves too far when doing this workout and believe this leads to healthy results, while the opposite is true. Make sure to follow the safety guidelines of the program and most of all have a great time.

While the P90X workout plan is almost a sure way to get great fitness results, it isn't the most ideal program if you're busy or aren't in such good shape to begin with. For such cases, there are alternative programs, for both men and especially for women.
