Can I get flat stomach? That's a question I asked myself last year. Truly, I wanted to get a 6 pack, but from perspective of time, I realise now that I aimed very high, in a very short time frame. However, I did manage to get a flat stomach. But what a feat it was.
I Can Do Sit-ups
When I was in my teens I would go to the basement and do several hundred sit-ups in one go. I remember I reached over 600 on a few occasions. But those were the standard ones, done very quickly. I never had visible stomach muscles but had little fat to worry about. Being in my mid thirties, the story is different. Sure, I can do sit-ups. Or at least I though I could do them. It's no problem doing a few dozen ordinary ones once in a while, but what's the point. Each time is like a new beginning with no visible results.
Training Plan
As I stared running, I noticed I lost a bit of my fat. With new ambitions, I set myself a task of getting a six pack. I will say it now, I did not achieve my goal - yet!
One day, a friend of mine introduced me to a 6 week workout schedule, which he started. Best workout abs, he said. Since I was looking for a way to build a six pack, I gave it a go. I have never been more determined doing a workout than this. Weider's Aerobic 6 lasts 6 weeks, but these are 42 consecutive days of ab exercises. It starts nice and slow. 6 repetitions of 6 different exercises. 36 sit-ups, a breeze, right? Well, yes! Day 1 was not much of a challenge. Days 2 and 3 were alright too, doing 2 series each day - total 72 sit-ups. Day 4 brought in a bigger challenge - 3 series, meaning over 100 sit-ups per day. Now I refer to the exercises as sit-ups, but that is slightly misleading. A sit-up is usually done in a second. These exercises take a while longer. 3 seconds each - that is holding each position for 3 seconds. Can you feel your ab muscles working now? I will not go any farther, suffice to say, 3 series is the maximum you will do per day, however, the number of repetitions increase every 4 days. Discipline and determination!
These exercises flatten the stomach. They help burn fat and more importantly, turn it into muscle. The answer to the question 'Can I get flat stomach doing Weider's 6?' is a definite YES! Will you be able to see the whole program through, that is another question!
