Weight Lifting For The Intermediate

I am going to give my wife Carolann a break in writing on her nutrition articles and put my two cents in again about my passion for weight lifting. My first article was for the beginner weight lifter. This article is for the intermediate weight lifter. I am here to talk to the body builders who have been at weight lifting for a while now and are getting good at it. Everything is going well and you want to continue to improve on muscle size and lift heavier weights.

To start with you should make up a work out schedule that makes up the six muscle groups. They are as follows: shoulders, chest, biceps, triceps, back and legs.

Start each muscle group with simple exercises like the bicep curl or the bench press. Do about 4 sets each. One set should make up about 6-8 repetitions. If you do 4 sets your repetitions should be about 24-32 repetitions.

Do upper body groups one day then the lower body the next day. It is important that you take one day off for rest after 2 to 3 work out days.

In addition to your body building routine you should do walking or running every day. Doing just weights alone, will not develop your cardiovascular system. The walking or running should be done on your days off from building.

If you have a treadmill try to walk up to a mile on your off days. This will keep your metabolism at a high rate most of the time. This will also keep excess fat off your body.

Next, you will find that by using heavier weights you will have increased soreness and feel more tired. This is due to a very high cell breakdown going on from your routine. The cells breakdown then divide into two cells. This is where the soreness comes into play.

The recovery process on average runs about 72 hours. To help you speed up the process of recovery pick up a good Whey Protein Supplement and a good multi-vitamin this information can be found in no nonsense nutrition to help you in the recovery process. This will also help to increase muscle size and stamina. Drink at least, at minimum 8, 8 ounce glasses of water a day. They say that if you are weight lifting the amount of water intake should increase over this amount stated.

Do 3 workouts a week and run or walk on your off days. You won't believe how much stronger you will be and how much more energetic you will feel on average. Follow the directions on the label and don't over use the product. On off days use one half the product that you would use normally. I believe that my wife has stated in one of her articles that it is not good for your body to overdo even things that are good for you.

Also, these supplements are not addictive and will cause no harm if you stop taking them.Your system will just return to its orignal self that you were before you started taking them

good luck and happy lifting.
