If you ask an open ended question in a group of people, it is unlikely that you will get an overwhelmingly unanimous answer. The question of the best fitness guru is no different. Ask that question and you will be hearing names of trainers from the Biggest Loser as well as others from various workout programs and companies of every kind. Tony Horton, Jillian Micheals, Denise Austin and others are just some of the names that will be hotly debated. Everyone swears that theirs is the only guru that will get the job done, because look at the results that they got. But, there is the problem. There is the reason that there is no one perfect answer to this loaded question.
Wait a few minutes and the positive discussion will turn negative. People will start telling their horror stories about each of the gurus and why they are the worst to listen to. Denise Austin is too perky, someone will say and hard to take seriously. Funny, since she has made billions with a wide range of exercise programs and has been in the fitness industry for decades. Obviously there are millions of people who find her pleasant and cheerful disposition exactly what they need. Tony Horton is a goofball, a failed comedian who still thinks he is walking the stage instead of leading a workout. Odd, because his programs, including P90X are among the top selling and many millions follow him on Twitter, Facebook and will travel for miles to see him live. The results can't be argued with. If Horton works for you, then he is the right one.
The only way to really answer that question is to determine who will inspire you, who will get you moving. If you are grumbling at the television screen and not giving it your all, this is the wrong person for you. It's like dating. You may have to go on several really bad first dates before you find the right "one". Your exercise program may need to be tweaked and changed until you find who is right for you.
Every exercise program will have moves you hate or cannot do very well, you have to accept that as well. There is no perfect exercise program or guru but you should be able to find something that is fun to do, challenging and gets you the results that you are looking for.
I enjoyed P 90x and Insanity but I really loved Turbofire. What a blast!
