Why You Should Change Your Exercise Routine

There are many reasons why you should change your routine more often than not and they are all as equally important.

• First of all we have the plateau- The idea of standing for 30-60 minutes on a treadmill every day and then to find out that it's not doing much for you anymore would be kind of devastating. When you start adding variety to your workouts it will keep your exercises effective. If you keep doing the same workout day in and day out you're not challenging your body to get to the next level and your body and you for that matter become complaisant. There is a reason why personal trainers keep pushing you to lift heavier, run faster etc. We need it to raise our metabolism. To be honest how kind is it to exercise the same muscles every day and not the others and how do you think you would feel after a while with half a body that is over trained and the other half that hardly knows how to exist.

• To let our beautiful, gorgeous bodies rest- Always give yourself at least two to three day's rest between the same kind exercises so that whatever body part you've put to the test gets a chance at recuperate. When it comes to weights I would wait at least 5 days. Let's say on Monday you're down the gym doing weight training, you're focusing on your arms, chest and shoulders then I would let those muscle groups rest from that type of exercise for 5-7 days, you can however go running or swimming instead since that's a different type of exercise. Same with running - if I did a HIIT session on Tuesday I would wait until Friday before I went running again. Muscles break down after you've worked them out and they need time to heal and to rebuild themselves, that's how you become stronger and at the same time you prevent yourself from getting injured.

• Boredom- I would get bored out of my wits and if I'm bored can you imagine how my body feels, well it's not exited that's for sure. I want to learn and do new things. Challenge myself. I want to give all my muscles the gift of working out, to be used. Just because I loved to swim when I was a child doesn't mean I do today. I enjoy so many different types of exercises because I've given myself the gift to try new things. Now it so happens that I still love swimming, it might be because I don't do it very often, so I really enjoy it and thrive on it on those rare occasions. Use the seasons to inspire you. I do a lot more swimming, running, tennis, golf and cycling when the weather is nice. I love the spring and summer, why don't you try surfing, canoeing, sailing, kite-surfing etc. Then on the other hand I also love the autumn and winter with the weight lifting at the gym, the spinning and the indoor walking classes maybe a dance class or some Pilates. Outdoors you can try different types of skiing or snowboarding and some of you might love the challenge of skating.

Exercise is supposed to be fun. What usually happens when you get bored? That's right you quit. So have fun exercising, enjoy and challenge yourself.
