Workout Motivation Part 2

This is the continuation of more workout motivation suggestions.  In Part 1, I covered my personal top 3 suggestions that kept me going for a while.

To quickly recap:

Workout Motivation #1: Get money involved.  One option is to bet with a group of friends that you can keep up with the routine longer than the others.  Another option is to have a gifting system with a buddy for every milestone reached.

Workout Motivation #2: Spend a little on new workout clothes and look hot.  When you decide to buy that cute new top, I bet you will want to look good in it during your zumba or hip hop class.

Workout Motivation #3: Get some sun.  Have fun exercising outdoors and getting a tan!

On to more new ideas:

Workout Motivation #4: Do you have an upcoming trip? I like to travel.  Every few months I have something to look forward to especially after the monotony of work.  It doesn't even have to be a big trip.  Maybe just a weekend getaway near the beach or hiking in the mountains or just relaxing at a spa.  This makes your workout worth it. Personally, I have an upcoming Hawaii trip next month and am really looking forward to some time off to hang out with my girl buddies.  However, the girls that I am going with are the typical tiny and skinny asians.  They don't workout, they eat a lot of junk food, and they still look the same! They are trying to gain weight and I'm trying to lose it.  If only I could just give part of my weight to them...  Anyway, back to the topic.  So because I have this trip and because I have tiny friends, I decided to workout extra hard this month to not look like a giant whale next to them.

Workout Motivation #5: If you're tired of hitting the treadmill all the time, try some new workouts.  I like to spend a little time reading fitness magazines (Self, Fitness, etc.) because they give you at least one new workout to try that month.  It is important to keep up with the strength workouts as well as the cardio workouts.  The convenient thing is that they have these magazine apps set up on the iPad.  So if you have one, I suggest downloading theses issues on your iPad to try out.  For example, this month's issue talked a littele bit about CrossFit and had a workout that you can try.

Workout Motivation #6: Don't go all out your first day of working out again.  It is very tempting to do so and I have made the mistake of doing that.  The rest of the week I felt sore and tired and not able to workout anymore and then I got back into the slump.  Start off gradually and you will see a difference in time and keep up with it.

Take some time to congratulate yourself when you accomplish a goal of yours.  Surround yourself with encouraging people to help you stick with it.  If you need some help or advice from someone who's been through it also, feel free to contact me.  I'm a real person and I've been in your shoes.  Well, not literally your shoes, but these new shoes that I workout with now.
