Parkour is quickly becoming one of the more popular sports. More and more beginners are looking for a way to get involved in it. So you may look up youtube videos, and it can be intimidating seeing people flip off a 15 foot building. It may leave you wondering where you need to begin. So this is article is going to lead you in the right direction for parkour tricks for beginners.
The basics that the beginner needs to learn the following:
- How to Land
- How To Roll
- Basic Vaults
How to Land
In order for you to be able to safely practice parkour, these are a must. Whenever you practice you should spend at least 10 to 15 minutes drilling these. This is what allows you to jump off a 10 foot building while only feeling the impact of an average person doing a jumping jack.
First when you go to land, you want to land on the balls of your feet while bending the knees. You also want your butt to stick way out as you are bending your knees. But don't allow your knees to go past your toes, and don't bend them past a 90 degree angle. A normal landing is usually done at five feet or less. Anything higher is where you usually go into a roll.
How To Roll
To go into a roll, you follow the same basic moves as the landing except you rotate your body forward and roll. I'm going to be giving instructions for rolling over your right shoulder, if you want to roll over your left, just reverse the instructions.
Alright so here once you land, you want to collapse your right arm, but don't bang it against the ground. Now you want to tuck your head into your left shoulder, and begin rolling over your right shoulder. You should go from the right shoulder to the left side of the lower back. You should end in almost a sitting position, and use one arm to support you as you get up and to help maintain balance as you continue running.
It is easier to see these in action, so you may want to watch some instructional videos.
Basic Vaults
The basic vaults are as follows:
- Safety Vault
- Lazy Vault
- Thief Vault
- Standard Vault
- One Armed Vault
- Kong Vault
Again this would take a lot to instruct on, and you still may not understand it fully. Parkour isn't that complicated, it is just easier to learn through watching parkour instructional videos.
