Nitro remote control cars are a truly addictive and hands on hobby that is enjoyed by many people from all walks of life. This tends to be more of an adult hobby than one for children for several reasons. First of all, the cost of purchasing even basic model nitro remote control cars is very expensive. Second, there is a great deal of maintenance that must be carried out in order to keep your RC car in top running condition.

When you order your choice of nitro remote control cars, the first thing you are going to want to do is unpack everything from the box it arrived in. Check to see if everything listed is included with your order. After all, you have probably paid a good amount of money for this package, so you want to make sure you have everything that is supposed to be in that box.

Set your nitro remote control cars on the floor or on a table, and set its engine to the factory settings which should be laid out in the included user manual that should have been in that same package. Fill up your nitro remote control cars tank with the nitro fuel and you are ready to roll.

There should be some very specific instructions about starting your engine. Go ahead and fire it up, allowing the engine to run for a while and warm up. You may have to drive/operate the vehicle around for a few tanks of gas in order to have it at the proper temperature for optimal performance.

Once your RC car has warmed up sufficiently, you are going to want to adjust the high speed needle which should be located on the top its carburetor. This needle should be moved incrementally in rotations, which will serve to increase the engine’s power. You should run the car, each time an adjustment is made, stopping when the engine speeds up too fast – you will hear this by listening to the revs.

Lower your idle setting by turning the idle screw counter clockwise. Each adjustment should be made slowly and carefully, until the engine is no longer moving the vehicle if you do not have the throttle on. Always allow the vehicle’s engine to idle down after you run the vehicle. If you find that it takes to long to return to that idle, you will probably need to make a specific adjustment by rotating the low speed needle until the RPMs slow down to a normal speed.

Once you learn how to make the proper adjustments to your nitro remote control car, you will get optimal performance from it, and you will certainly enjoy running it a lot more. It is best to practice the aforesaid adjustments carefully and repeatedly to preserve the life of the motor and to get the most out of your vehicle.

If you ever have a query, refer back to the owner’s manual for specific instructions. While most of these vehicles are very similar, there are some differences between grades of models.
