Just what is Street Articles? Have you ever heard of the term "article directory" before? I'll bet you have. If you've ever done any form of article marketing or content marketing in the past, then you'll be very familiar with article directories. Well, Street Articles (SA) is another one, but it's a bit different.
You see, there's been a big change in the way that articles online have been ranked. Ezine Articles, Go Articles, Hub Pages and other directories that have been popular in the past have suffered due to the massive changes that various Google updates have made to search results. Street Articles was built just before the big changes, and so it's been able to adapt the fastest. And it seems to have come out really well. The majority of the articles that I've written so far for Street Articles are ranked on the first page of Google, and that means a lot of traffic to my websites. It's become my directory of choice.
OK, have I gotten too far ahead? Did I lose you at "article directory"?
If I did, there's a simple way to say this: Street Articles is an article directory (really?). It's for people who want to write articles. Some people have used SA to write things about headline news around the world. Others have used the platform to express their opinions about a diverse range of topics. Others have used it to write up product reviews, and others have used it to get visitors to their websites. It was built first for online marketers who want to use the traffic to boost their profile and their online sales, but what seems to has happened is that it's turned into a very respectable destination in itself.
And this seems to be the great strength in Street Articles. While Ezine and the other directories have let themselves become flooded with sub par content, SA has attracted a very high class of content - which is an impressive achievement for an online article directory!
This does of course mean that you can't submit just anything to SA. While they do accept more "traditional" article marketing style articles, you'll find that sub standard content just isn't appreciated. I often used to wonder if the moderators at Ezine Articles (the former daddy in the article directory scene) wished they had a "well actually it's just a bad article" button.
For Authors:
Writing for SA means that you get your articles in front of a large number of people. As I said above, articles that I write are often able to rank in the top ten Google results as long as I choose a good keyword before hand. It does mean that you might need to hold yourself to a higher standard then other directories that you write for.
For Readers:
Street Articles is becoming a great place to read up others opinions and other content. It's all pretty good and it's very "browsable", so why not have a look around?
Street Articles is not without its problems, but for the most part it's a very good directory. I think you'll find if you try using it that you'll start to see a good upswing in your traffic (if that's your goal) and a boost in your online profile. Why not write an opinion piece?
very good contrast...thanks for posting such a good profile for us to read.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I liked how you looked at both the positive & negative sides of Street Articles.
Thanks Mary. I know everyone working on SA soups it up to be the greatest directory on planet Earth (and it is) but it isn't without annoying bugs or issues. Thanks for your comment!
