Safety first! We have all heard this warning, from our moms and loved ones wanting to keep us safe and see us alive and in good shape again. Usually the advice precedes an adventure or outing which might entail a bit of risk or perceived danger. Riding our motorcycle may fall into that category for some of us. A protective brown leather motorcycle jacket may be the perfect answer to alleviate concerns and ward off this direction in the future.
Finding the perfect jacket doesn’t have to be painstaking or impossible though. There are a few things we must have present for the jacket to be protective, as well there are a few things we look for in quality craftsmanship which will guarantee us a long relationship with our gear.
The key word here is “gear”. Yes, we want to look and feel great in our jacket, but we can’t sacrifice good looks for quality protection. The market is saturated with beautiful, supple brown leather jackets, and very few of them will actually protect your body from injury should you take a spill on your bike.
Although we like to think we are careful, and we will never dump our bikes, most of the time, accidents are not our fault. Other drivers cause motorcycle accidents much more often than user error. Remember this and think twice before you pay for an expensive and beautiful leather jacket without proper protection.
What to look for in a good Leather Motorcycle Jacket
Proper protection on your bike means a good jacket-which will protect your skin and bones if you take a spill. A quality motorcycle jacket will have durable and thick leather. Thin leathers are simply not made to withstand abrasions. The thicker leather will be stiffer, but you will be grateful for that if you ever do end up sliding on the pavement.
Next thing to look for is proper padding. A jacket offering proper protection will have padding on all areas of the body which are likely to contact the concrete first- elbows and shoulders. Additionally, look for padding on the spine which will give added protection for your backbone. The padding should be fairly rigid and completely cover the area it is geared to protect.
Next we check the workmanship. Seams are a good tell-tale sign if your selection has been constructed properly or just slapped together to look good. Pull apart on the seams, shoulder and arm seams. If the seams spread or if you see loose threads, put the coat back on the hanger and continue your search.
With a quality constructed Brown Leather Motorcycle Jacket you can expect safety and protection while looking your best on your hog.
