Feng Shui is an ancient technique developed more than 3,000 years ago in China that creatively combines art and science to balance the energies in a space to assure good fortune and health to those living in that space.

It can be an important technique to learn and apply to your bedroom because of all the time most of us spend in the room. Most of us spend a good portion f our lives sleeping which means that we spend a lot of time in our beds. This is why bedrooms are often considered the most important room in your house to have good feng shui. The good feng shui will help support your personal energy and maintain a feeling of love and healing that each person needs to live their life to the fullest.

The bed is generally considered the most important piece of furniture in a bedroom when determining feng shui placement. The good news is that the guidelines are mostly easy to follow and implement, although occasionally challenges can be encountered when trying to get the best bed placement.

To make sure you have good feng shui bed placement, make sure you do the following:

• Make sure there are no sharp angles from walls or furniture corners point at you while you sleep.

• There should be a good supporting wall behind your bed.

• There should be grounding and balanced energy.

When choosing your bed, take your time and make sure you have the right selection. The selection has to be based on your personal comfort as well as requirements to create good feng shui.

• Choose a good mattress. Most people realize in order to get a good sleep, they should select a mattress that is comfortable to promote the best sleep and relaxation. This fits into the feng shui belief in that a better mattress will give you better sleep ultimately giving you good energy throughout the day. Never buy a used mattress or even hand mattresses down between family members. The quality of the feng shui energy could be modified or, if getting a used mattress from a stranger, you may not know what energy had been accumulated from previous owners.

• Don’t forget the headboard. While you sleep, your body is working to repair energy on many levels. As a result of this, your head needs good support, protection, and backing. Choose a solidly built headboard like one made out of wood or covered with upholstery. The wood ones can come across harsh. That’s why upholstered ones are often favored. They’re good sound absorbers. Plus they can give a gentler feel to your room.

• The bed height is important. When buying furniture online, but especially the bed, you need to make sure the height is appropriate for both the room and the height of the person using it. This allows for balanced feng shui energy flow. Beds with built in drawers underneath are considered bad feng shui beds.
