Finding good fantasy books can be challenging. With more and more fantasy books coming out all the time, it is important to read a good book review to make sure you will enjoy the book before you decide to buy the book. If you are a fan of fantasy books like I am, you will enjoy these books that were chosen as the best fantasy books of 2012.

The first book is called The Way of Kings. It is written by Brandon Sanderson, (who completed The Wheel of Time series after Robert Jordan's death) at over 1,000 pages brings to life the first of a ten volume series called The Stormlight Archives. The Way of Kings focuses on three main characters (Kaladin, Shallan and Dalinar) with lots of side characters. The main story focuses on Kaladin who is a surgeon's son that is forced to become a bridgeman (a form of military slavery in which he is forced to carry bridges in an on-going war). Sanderson takes you on a journey of monarchy and war. You will be entranced as you read this amazing novel. The Way of Kings is definitely one of the top fantasy books of 2012.

Another book you will enjoy is called Warbreaker. In this novel, Sanderson sets the scene of two kingdoms that are on the brink of war with each other. The kingdom of Hallandren has "Gods" that need the breath or life force from their loyal subjects in order to survive. The other kingdom of Idris see this as evilness since these Gods seem to be taking the souls from their own people. Although, the two kingdoms have a peace treaty but things are not what they seem in Hallandren as we come to find out. Sanderson takes you on an incredible journey of love and war. This is why Warbreaker can claim the title of one of the top fantasy books of 2012.

The Mistborn Trilogy are also great books. The Mistborn books are about two classes of people: the nobility and the poor. The nobility are wealthy and are the descendants of a God-king who also have magical abilities. The poor, also know as the Skaa are the usually the slaves to the nobility. Sanderson takes you on an incredible journey of hope and the weak overcoming impossible odds. After reading the Mistborn trilogy you will agree that Sanderson did a great job in creating more of the top fantasy books.

The new, emerging author Brandon Sanderson has some incredible talent. Of all the fantasy books I have read I can honestly say that Sanderson captured my imagination in a way I did not think was possible. Sanderson is my new favorite author and when you read his novels you will agree that he has made some of the top fantasy books of 2012 and for many years to come.
