In a press conference held in Milan on June 9th, 2015, it was confirmed that Myrtha Pools would be the supplier of the competition pools for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.
In addition to the installation of the two 50 m Myrtha pools inside the stadium “Estadio Olimpico de Desportos Aquaticos”, where the main swimming competitions and athletes’ warm up will take place; the Company will also be responsible for the management of the plant design for the entire duration of the event. â¨â¨ After Atlanta in1996, Beijing in 2008 and London in 2012, this is now Myrtha Pools fourth appointment with the Olympic Games.
“The long way (more than 50 years) that made our Company a point of reference for international swimming competitions is also the best guarantee for our private customers because it is proof of the attention we put into every project, from the smallest and easiest to the largest and most complicated international projects”, said Roberto Colletto.
The made in Italy excellence and the reliability of Myrtha Pools are appreciated more and more in Brazil, where the Company built and is currently building important projects such as the Fortaleza Centro de Formação Olímpica do Nordeste, the Pinheiros Clube in Rio de Janeiro and the Centro Paraolímpico Brasileiro in San Paolo.
With its six pools, the facility in San Paolo will be the largest Paralympics Centre in the entire world. Twelve is the number of the Myrtha pools associated to the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, among which is the 50m pool for the Maria Lenk Aquatics Center which is designed for synchronized swimming warm up sessions.
In addition four other pools are in the negotiation phase. After the Olympic Games, some of the temporary pools will be moved and permanently rebuilt in other facilities.
