Anyone who has had the misfortune of having athletes foot will know it can drive you absoloutly nuts.Heres the big question what is athletes foot?.Athletes foot or ringworm of the foot is a fungal infection of the skin that causes flaking and iching arond the creases of the toes and in all the little nooks and crevises.This causes the skin to go red and blistery and can be very sore in places.

Want to know how you can catch athletes foot?It can very commonly be caught in places such as swimming pools or anywhere moist or damp where people walk around barefoot.shower cubicles,saunas or communal baths are all good .It deosn't always stick to the feet either it can move to other areas of the body such as the groin.When this happens it is usually given a different name such as jock ich(what a name).

Some of the most common athletes foot symptoms are flaking,iching,blisters,redness,pain,swelling and cracked skin leading to open wounds.

The athletes foot fungus or trichophyton if your super intelligent(i'm not) is usually transmitted from person to person in areas i explained earlier.The fungus can also be transmitted by sharing footwear and towels,so if someone offers to lend you a pair of football boots and they can't stop rubbing thier feet i would politley decline.

There are many cures and old wives tales out there some of them sound quite nasty like urinating on your own feet urgh.Suprisingly there are quite a lot of athletes foot home cures out there,quite simple things that can bring huge relief very quickly.

Filling a bucket with warm water and adding a small amount of bleach can help so can lysol,spray it on your feet twice a dayand make sure you spray it in your shoes aswell.One home remedy that made me laugh was soaking your feet in mouthwash I'm not saying it deosn't work it just sounded a little wild for me.I've also heard of different acids such as boric acid working but if you have got to the stage where the skin is broken i imagine this could be quite painfull.

To round this article of i'm sure youv'e heard the saying prevention is better than a cure.Whenever your in a communal place such as the pool or shower block try wearing some kind of shoe such as crocs.Always make sure you dry your feet properly,because the fungus loves damp places maybe add a little talcen powder.Make sure you wear clean socks,don't share footwear and try not to play footsie with strangers.

If all this fails however and you still manage to get athletes foot well you could always try peeing on your feet ha! seeya
