As often prescribed by doctors and podiatrists, custom made insoles are extraordinarily beneficial for any person experiencing foot or other joint pain. They can range in price from just a few dollars for a pair of over the counter insoles where one “customizes” them by cutting off the excess material around the edges, to a full on customization procedure where the individual has to cast a full mold of their feet. Depending on the desires of the individual and their budget, there is absolutely a solution for everyone. Whether it’s just another layer of comfortable foam, or a full on customization fit for an aircraft carrier, the options are out there.
Custom made insoles are typically made from EVA foam and other hardened materials for added support. The combination of the various layers helps to coordinate their various benefits and bonuses. Softer layers are utilized as regular comfort pads, while firmer foams act as shock absorption. The harder materials add the much needed support for the arch and provide the main backbone of the insoles themselves. Their design is meant primarily to redistribute the weight of the body along a more efficient layout of load bearing contact points. The body does a pretty good job of naturally doing these things; however, nature can sometimes use a little helping hand to hammer out some of the more particular details.
The benefits of custom made insoles are apparent when one considers the amount of damage that can be potentially done to the feet just through the course of an average day. Typically, people take somewhere between 4000-7000 steps in the average day. Multiply that by the weight of the person taking those steps, and one has a fairly astronomical amount of pounds being slammed on the feet every single day. As a result, there are numerous ways that a person can change their gait and posture to best distribute that weight.
To a large extent, custom made insoles contribute to relieving pain and providing comfort for the wearer. However, they are also utilized as a preventative measure. Wearing insoles before issues arise can help to postpone perhaps even indefinitely, issues that may cause undue pain for the individual. Furthermore, with prices for all budgets, and styles for all the feet in the world, there is no reason someone can say they didn’t do everything they could to prevent this or that condition. It is a matter of merely making the effort to find them.
