Hello guys, today I would like to talk about motion. Have you ever tried to take note of your body motion? I mean literally analizing it from beginning to end.  Say, from the time we wake up in the morning until the evening. Let me give you an example: let’s say we wake up at 7 am.

We get up from an horizontal position and perform a series of actions that most likely will be our only opportunity to exercise during the day. These actions include: get out of bed to go the bathroom, taking a shower, brushing teeth and preparing breakfast.

We sit for at least 10 minutes to eat breakfast. Then, in a dozen hurried steps we rush to our car and we drive to work. We sit in the car for a period ranging from 10 minutes to an hour. We arrive at work. We reach our desk, on average, from 20 to 100 steps.

We sit and work.

One hour.

Two, three, four hours ...

Without noticing it’s dark and it’s time to go home. (Oh, I forgot to mention that in between we get up to go pee. Just few steps, since the office is very close to the toilet room).

Again, we walk our 20-to-100 steps to the car and remain seated until we return home. When we arrive, only about 10 steps separate us from our house.

At best, there is already someone waiting for us at home and everything we need to do is sit at the table and eat. Here we are, sitting again, with our beautiful family.

Maybe after dinner, we decide to sit on the couch and watch a movie with a nice ice-cream cone. Then, after a quick shower we brush our teeth and we go back to bed. You also see what I see? Most of us, have a very sedentary lifestyle and spends sitting or lying almost 90% of his day!

This lifestyle can eventually lead to obesity and it is harmful for our veins cause it favors the formation of serious diseases and disorders such as Deep Vein Thrombosis! If our diet is rich in carbohydrates, low in fiber and protein, and maybe we smoke a cigarette every now and then ... voila, we’re done, and without even realizing it we have become a “high risk category”. Very high, I might add.

Let us not be caught unprepared by DVT, cause once you have it, means that it is too late and you must seek emergency care, submit to periodic examinations, etc..

Prevent DVT is possible and can be done in 4 easy steps:

- Try to do more exercise. Avoid the car for short distances. Use your bike. Try to do exercises from a sitting position when you are at work (I'll talk about it in another article)

- Avoid bread, pasta and rice. Eat more vegetables instead, and include in your daily diet red fruits such as cranberries, blueberries, straberries, etc.. They are excellent anticoagulants.

- Wear graduated compression socks as much as possible. Consistency is the key! Try to wear them EVERYDAY.

-       Avoid salt.

If you keep these 4 golden rules I assure you will enjoy these benefits of from the very beginning: 1. You will feel more energetic. You will be more stimulated and active. 2. Will no longer feel tired and sleepy in the early afternoon. You will be visibly losing weight. 3. At the end of the day your legs will be fresh as the morning, and continued use of compression socks also prevent varicose veins.

These are just 4 simple steps for our health, perhaps it doesn’t seem too much to you, but it means a lot to your body and especially to your legs!
