I Have Spider Veins On My Legs

"Help!" My sister screamed "I have spider veins on my legs!"

Sadly, it was true.

Usually my sister wears pants, however that morning, with the complicity of the summer, she was wearing shorts only to find out that it looked like someone have drawn a map of a river with all of its tributaries on her legs. It was even more pronounced in the area behind her knees.

My sister has been working for a while as a chief cook in a hotel restaurant and it involves working long hours, most of the time standing. After today I doubt she will ever get back to shorts.

The spider veins on the legs problem runs in our family. I remember that my mother too for years had worked as a nurse, and therefore she too had to stand many hours. A problemwhich has only worsened with the arrival of children: each pregnancy added one or two tributaries to the river in flood.

I advised my sister to wear graduated compression socks. For her it’s inevitable, she cannot afford to work without wearing something that supports her legs.

What are compression socks?

These are elastic stockings that exert pressure on the vein walls. They work according the principle of graduated depression from bottom to top, meaning that the pressure starts on the ankle and gradually decreases towards the thighs. In a way, as time goes by it provides a real massage to the legs.

These socks are especially indicated for nurses, cooks, shopclercks or anyone who for work reasons have to spend many hours standing.

I suggested them to my sister mainly because they are a great solution for Leg Fatigue but especially in order to prevent very serious diseases such as Deep Vein Thrombosis which could lead to serious, sometimes fatal consequences. These socks are sold in different sizes and models and the pressure of compression stockings is indicated in mm / Hg ranging from 20 to 40, depending on the type of problem. The greater the number of mm / Hg and the higher the pressure. For those who suffer from varicose veins you should see your doctor and be given a prescription.

It 'also important to wear stockings in the early morning, as you get up from bed and keep them on as much as possible. Consistency plays an important role in prevention and health of our legs.

Do not underestimate the powers of graduated compression stockings! Could save our legs and avoid seeing those ugly spider veins on the legs.
