Leg Length Discrepancy Insoles

Practically every person on the planet has a slight difference between the lengths in their legs. As a result, many people experience some kind of medical problems associated with that leg difference. However, these problems are easily fixed with leg length discrepancy insoles. Custom made insoles have the benefit of being able to be formed very specifically to the exact geometry of the individual’s feet. Moreover, they can also be designed to compensate for leg discrepancy. For the most part, people have a leg length difference less than two centimeters. It is very convenient then, that custom insoles can be altered up to two centimeters in width.

Leg length discrepancy can cause a number of different issues associated with pain and problems with joints and muscles. As a result of the discrepancy, the body is forced to react and compensate for the difference. It does so by slightly bending or moving the ankles, knees and hips at a different angles than what is actually normal. However, despite the fact that these alterations are so small, they can, over time, cause the various joints to wear down more so than if they were operating normally. Leg length discrepancy insoles can actually prevent that from happening.

By simply adding a few millimeters to the shorter of the two legs with leg length discrepancy insoles, the problem is all but eliminated. The only situation where it may not be fixed is if the individual reverts to wearing shoes without insoles, or sandals that do not compensate for the leg length difference. However, if the person decides to commit to wearing the insoles, they can actually eliminate all of the issues associated with the length issues. This is all in addition to all of the other medical problems that custom made orthotics can treat or eliminate.

Leg length discrepancy insoles help to eliminate fatigue at the end of the day and in the long run, joint and muscle pain. Apropos the compensations that the body establishes to work around differences in leg lengths, one of the drawbacks is an uneven expenditure of more energy in the legs. At the end of the day, the individual is more exhausted than if they were walking around with even leg lengths. Furthermore, as was mentioned before, leg length discrepancy insoles will prevent the overuse and wearing out of the joints in the ankles, knees, hips and even the back. Heel and foot lifts are some of the best ways to combat issues associated with leg length discrepancy.
