Brady is Blessed And Tebow is Distressed

Garth Brooks had it right when he sang "I thank God, for unanswered prayers" as Tim Tebow's went unanswered for the first time this season.

The score was already out of hand, somewhat predictably, when it turned in to "Tebow Time" at Invesco field in Denver yesterday. Tim Tebow never really had a chance to work his miracles though due to a better than usual New England Patriot defense. Apparently the other quarterback had gotten Jesus on the line as Tebow kept getting a busy signal.

The Denver defense which has made all of these "Mile High Miracles" even possible was overmatched and they got run over by an offensive juggernaut named Tom Brady. They had him down early, but eventually Brady emerged from the depths and glided over the water like he typically does.

Just about everything went according to plan on Sunday, except the main attraction. Tebow was harried and hurried and forced into making mistakes that he has yet to make this season. He turned the ball over and never gave his team a chance to make a final fourth quarter push.

New England was just too much for them on this December day when Bronco fans held the world in their hands. After the game all they held was a 1 game lead in the AFC West division as they were helped out by another divine intervention in the Oakland Raider game.

Defensive mastermind Bill Belicheck came up with a game plan that even the worst defense in the NFL could apply and stop the mystifying Tebow. All this with their best pass rusher, Andre Carter of Cal, succumbing to injury and leaving the game.

Tom Brady, Mr. Everything to his fans, was experiencing the holiday spirit as he gave a gift to his embattled receiver Chad OchoCinco with a wide open 33 yard touchdown catch. It was his first as a Patriot.

Denver now goes on the road to face a team on a quick downward spiral the Buffalo Bills. They will need Tebow to find his magic again if they have any hopes of winning this division. They are in control of their own destiny and will be assured of a playoff spot if they can win out. Even if they don't win out, they can still sneak in through the backdoor with some help from other teams.

Could this finally be the beginning of the end for the quarterback option in the NFL playbooks, or could this just be a blip on the radar of a quarterback and a team trying to reach their pinnacle? It's a tough call, but I am going to go out on a limb and say it's a blip. Look out Bill fans, if you can't tackle Reggie Bush and allow him to run for over 200 yards, then you've got a lot of tackling to do next week. I wish you luck with that, because you're going to need it.
