Cowboys Win Game But Lose Receiver

The Dallas Cowboys won a game they were supposed to win, and they didn't do it in any kind of grand fashion either. Tony Romo and company had no trouble moving the ball up and down the field. They had trouble finishing drives, and settledfor two field goals and a 6-6 tie at halftime, which was not to the delight of the Dallas crowd.

Among the biggest of the first half failures was a play in which Dez Bryant was on his into the end zone as he got crunched at the 1 yard line and lost the ball. It was a crucial turnover at the time, because of the way the Seahawks were playing, it would have put the game almost out of reach. It was the defense keeping them in the game as usual, with the exception to that rule being last week.

In the second half Romo and the Boys came out firing on all cylinders. He connected on TD passes of 33 and 6 yards to Jason Witten and Laurent Robinson respectively. Former backup and rookie sensation DeMarco Murray kept his train rolling with another big day of 139 yards on 22 carries. He also contributed in the pass game catching 4 for 47 yards. With it looking more likely that Felix Jones will be back in some capacity starting next week, it looks to me like he has wrested the job away for himself. When Felix is finally back and healthy, I could see their opening day roles completely reversed.

The Seattle Seahawks, the defending NFC West champions, have almost no chance of repeating that feat. The Niners are leading their division by 5 games with only 8 to play, so you do the math. While the defense is pretty tough at home, they aren't the same team on the road, although they played fairly well most of the game. The Hawks had a chance to come back down 13-6, but that was before Tavaris Jackson helped the Cowboysmore than his own team, as he threw two consecutive picks that were turned into 10 Cowboy points. The only trip to the zone came late in the game by Oakland Tech and Cal Berkeley product Marshawn Lynch, when the outcome had already been decided.

I think that due to the schedule that the Cowboys have the best chance at winning the NFC East crown this year, but while riding the "Romo Coaster" all season it's hard to predict anything from these guys. They welcome the Buffalo Bills next week, then have a nice three game cushion to strengthen their record as they will play Washington, Miami, and Arizona in succession. They still have to play the Giants twice and Philly one more time, but with the way Rob "Grunge" Ryan has this defense playing they have a good chance to be a player in the NFC.

To make matters evenmore suspectfor them, it has been announced that wide receiver Austin Miles injured his other hamstring yesterday and will be missed for 2-3 more weeks. He already missed a few weeks earlier this season with a tweak of his other hammy. This means that Dez Bryant will finally need to step up and be the big playmaker they drafted him to be. No more playing second fiddle Mr. Bryant, it's time to come out as your mates need you more than ever.
