This is what this Dallas Cowboy team should look like. The first thing is that Tony Romo is finally fully healthy and playing well. Secondly they also have a strong running game for the first time since Emmitt Smith left. Seems that way anyway. Thirdly Grunge Ryan has this defense pumped and primed and hungry for blood. Even Charlie Sheen would have to say these guys look like winners.
Tony Romo delivered big time today with three touchdowns, one to Dez Bryant and the other two to Austin Miles fill in Laurent Robinson. Early in the first quarter he hit Bryant with a pretty pass deep down the right side which Bryant made a nice catch on for the 34 yard score. Later in the quarter he hit Robinson from 5 yards and the 14 point lead. On their next possession, Romo hit Robinson again this time for 58 yards and the route was on.
DeMarco Murray ran well again today, he busted Buffalo's chops to the tune of 6.8 yards per carry. 20 times for 130 yards and a TD. Murray also caught six balls for 36 more yards. Dan Bailey connected on four field goals, the longest being from 45 yards out. The final blow was dealt by Terrance Newman as he intercepted the ball for a 43 yard T.A.I.N.T. (Touchdown After Interception), it was Fitzpatrick's third pick of the day.
The only highlight the Bills had all day was mostly a novelty. Midway through the second quarter the Bills would score their only points of the day on a three yard TD pass to David Nelson. Nelson ran through the end zone, down his sidelines, and ended up in the far corner of the stadium handing his trophy ball off to his Dallas Cowboy cheerleader girlfriend. Quite a compromising position eh?
This game was all about the Boys though, because they are back. With the NY Giants losing today in San Francisco, the Cowboys are sitting at 5-4 only one game behind. They have a very friendly schedule coming up with road games against the punchless Redskins and Cardinals sandwiching a home game against the Miami Dolphins. I know I shouldn't do this, but I will anyway. Assuming they win those games, they would be at 8-4 and in pretty good shape heading into the final month of the season where they will face those Giants twice in the final four games.
The Bills had trouble from the jump today. DeMarcus Ware sacked Fitzpatrick on the first play of the day, and it just got worse from there. They put him on the ground four times, intercepted him three, and recovered a fumble from hometown kid Fred Jackson. Jackson, whose former home sat on the very site of the new Texas Stadium, had a decent day despite the fumble rushing for 113 yards on 13 carries. Donald Jones led the Bill's receivers with 6 catches for only 51 yards.
