Peyton Manning was out all season due to an injury that required him to have a second neck surgery. The strike complicated matters even worse and created more difficulties. Because he was unable to rehab his neck properly after the surgery. Therefore, it seemed that the neck surgery was unsuccessful the first time and had to-be redone a second time. On the second attempt, the results were much more positive. However, since Manning was out all season the Colts finished 2-14 and had the worst record in the NFL. Subsequently, they are in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes and if they acquire him, than it seems like Peyton is on the way out of Indy.
Consequently the question still-remains, will the Colts get rid of their star quarterback for a very talented rookie? The Colts management announced that they will not make-the-decision until march, but it's going to-be a very compromising situation until then. Considering all the attention the situation has already caused, it's only a matter of time until it escalates even more. Sports analysts have-been talking about this subject every-day and they are trying to-determine what the Colts are planning to do.
Most analysts predict that the Colts will get rid of Manning and draft Andrew Luck. However, in my opinion I think this would be a bad decision. As long as Peyton is healthy enough to play at a competitive level, than the Colts should keep him. Imagine how much Andrew Luck could benefit from one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game. If Peyton could become Andrew's mentor, he would become a much-better quarterback in the future.
Let's face it, Peyton is still a great asset to the Colts and they need to realize that. Although, there are many sports fans who think if the Colts trade Peyton they would get a lot of talent in the process. I agree that a trade would bring in some great talent, but in the process they would losing far more. This year the Colts were horrible due to the fact that Manning was on the sideline. One man's absence turned this team into the worst team in the NFL this year.
That fact alone should-be enough insight to management that maybe getting rid of Peyton is the wrong decision. I understand how wonderful people think Andrew Luck is, but remember he has still yet to take a snap in the NFL.Very few quarterbacks make-the-transition from college to the NFL successfully. Especially, with-in the first couple of years in the NFL. It takes a certain amount of time in order for them to adapt to the different level of play. Not to mention, learning the offensive playbook of the Colts is a very complex and it will-not-be easy.
In conclusion, I believe the Colts have a formidable decision to make and the clock is ticking. No matter which way they go, I am sure the media will blow it way out of proportion. If they go with Peyton, they will say that he's getting to old and injuries will-permit him from finishing the season. Whereas, if they go with Luck and he does not-perform to NFL standards the media will say why did you let go of Peyton? The Colts are in a "catch 22" situation and no matter what they decide to do they will-be-criticized for it. Will this become another circus-act decision like the Lebron James circumstances a few years ago? In just a few short months we will find out.
I found it interesting that your article popped to the front page this morning after the fact of Manning signing with the Broncos. And you were spot on about the media reaction to it. Again, great article and fun to read prior thoughts after the fact (if that makes sense).
Thanks a lot Joseph, yeah the media is very predictable considering the twist and blow up everything out of proportion! Now, ofcourse the Broncos are automatically going to win the super bowl! Let's remember that Peyton does not have the best playoff record. Not saying he is not good, he's great, but he's got a long way to go to prove himself again.
I hope to god they don't make another big deal like James had a few years ago, I will never hear the end of it from my husband. The Colts better not release Peyton after everything he has done for them.
Well get ready to hear it from your husband, b/c this is going to be a big deal! LOL
Manning is def. on the way out and it is a shame for all he has done for that franchise. It will be interesting though to see where he goes. I think that whoever who goes to they will be heading for the Playoffs or more.
It sure does look that way, but I never listen to the media anymore their just trying to create a story! We will know soon enough.
If Manning leaves Indy, than they are idiots I agree with you 100% they should keep him and he would make a great mentor. That would be pretty funny if they make a big deal out of it like L.James a few years ago. I hope the Jets get him they need a QB! Pretty good article I like it alot, alot of good points
Thanks Allen, I am glad you agree! Many people think he should go and I am the crazy one.
