Packers Beat Vikings To Remain Undefeated

The Christian Ponder era kicked off in Minnesota on Sunday, and while he didn't get the win, he certainly didn't embarrass himself either. Ponder should have been, and wasn't, any match for all world quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers had his typical day with over 300 passing yards to go along with three touchdowns. It's hard to beat the Packers, especially when you have a first time starting rookie QB.

To be fair Ponder, in his first start since the benching of Donovan McNabb, hit his very first pass for a 71 yard gain. He finished the drive with a 2 yard touchdown pass to Visanthe Shiancoe. Ponder finished the game with 219 yards, but his completion percentage was lacking as he only connected on 13 of 32 passes. He got a ton of help from running back Adrian Peterson, as he sliced and diced the Green Bay defense for 175 yards on the ground.

The real story of the day however belonged to the Green Bay Packers. The defending world champions staved off another team to stay unbeaten at 7-0. With a well-deserved bye week coming, Aaron Rodgers said "There's not a lot of panic in this team. We've been down a couple of times at halftime. Just a lot of focus", as Rodgers was the opposite of Ponder as he hit his first 13 passes on his way to a 24-30 day. 335 yards and three touchdowns later, it's another "W" in the column for Cal Berkeley product Rodgers.

James Starks who seems to have supplanted Ryan Grant as the main man in the backfield, did a little damage of his own. He made a few big runs, two of them late as they were trying to run out the clock. Grant dominated the touches in the committee, and produced 75 rushing yards on 13 attempts, and added 24 yards from three catches. Grant on the other hand plodded for 29 yards on nine tries. He did not catch a pass.

Greg Jennings, per usual, was the main man in Rodger's arsenal. He caught a team highseven passes for 147 yards, 79 coming on a TD hookup on the first drive of the third quarter. After the game Jennings was quoted as saying "We expect nothing less". Tight end Jermichael Finley chipped in a touchdown catch, but was held to only 13 yards on 2 catches. Finley was thought by most to be a breakout star for the Pack this year, but has only had one huge game so far. Knowing Rodgers, he will find time to serve plenty of balls all around this plentiful offense that he's in charge of. He is the youngest of the "elite" quarterbacks in the NFL, and has already won a Super Bowl title. Things are looking up for quite some time in Green Bay.
