Patriots’ Tom Brady Loses Appeal

NFL

According to ESPN Sources, Patriots QB Tom Brady loses appeal, 4-game suspension having to do with the deflategate scandal stays. The ruling was upheld by commissioner Roger Goodell.

If you haven’t heard the news, Tom Brady has been dealing with the issue of the Deflategate scandal, where he was charged with the use of footballs that contained less air than the standard. According to the Ted Wells’ investigation, Patriots personnel in the locker room supposedly deliberately deflated footballs during the AFC Championship Game and that Brady was “at least generally aware” of the rules violations, and did not comment.

The Patriots were fined $1 million for the infraction.

Tom Brady deals with Deflategate scandal

After the league was technically “silent” about the issue at first, they came up with the decision of giving Brady a four-game suspension.

Brady, with the help of the NFLPA , fought against the decision. Brady and the NFL had been speaking to the players association for a couple of days.

The New England Patriots star quarterback stated that he will not accept suspension and will not be punished for the footballs, but accept his consequences for failing to cooperate in a NFL investigation earlier this month. Now I guess he has no choice, after the commissioner ruled that his suspension was going to be upheld.

The NFLPA (players association) had been discussing the evidence and continuing their attempt in coming up with a conclusion for this case, but came up short.

Chaos is being made from this issue after discussions of the footballs and the Patriots 28-24 Super Bowl XLIX victory over the Seahawks.

“On or shortly before March 6, the day that Tom Brady met with independent investigator Ted Wells and his colleagues, Brady directed that the cell phone he had used for the prior four months be destroyed. He did so even though he was aware that the investigators had requested access to text messages and other electronic information that had been stored on that phone,” the league’s statement stated. “During the four months that the cell phone was in use, Brady had exchanged nearly 10,000 text messages, none of which can now be retrieved from that device. The destruction of the cell phone was not disclosed until June 18, almost four months after the investigators had first sought electronic information from Brady.”

Tom Brady made a pretty good case for the last couple days. However, close, but no cigar. NFL commissioner was not entirely convinced.

Did the flattened balls lead them to victory? I’m not sure of such an impact some deflated balls can have. What do you think?
