Just like the earth is a soccer ball is round. It’s not to be argued that soccer is the most popular sport in world history. Some go to an extent that it is a universal language. Soccer is about spirit and it brings different people from different backgrounds together. Some people get a sense of belonging and identity in the sport.
In soccer the fans are more important than the players, because they make it what it is today. For over centuries the fans have paid the player wages, they filled stadiums with enthusiasm, atmosphere and commentary. Nothing is more disappointing then a soccer game played behind closed doors or in front of empty stands.
Soccer’s huge appeal can be elaborated because it is one of the simplest, most flexible games ever discovered. It can be played on different surfaces, by various individuals in the same field.
In soccer anyone can beat anyone on their day. That much is explained by the fall of so called big teams beaten by the underdog teams.
What drives soccer is motivation. Like most sports in soccer the most motivated people win the most games. With the lack of motivation the players cannot survive the rough encounters soccer has to dish up. Whenever the player or team is going through a bad patch then motivating players becomes very important. Coaches have used various systems to attempt to encourage players under their supervision, from screaming and shouting at their players while marching up and down the touch line, to more calm approaches.
The explanation of what makes a player to be the best players is arguable some people say it’s stamina, some say it’s the physical condition of the player , skill and various other things. Well all the above would be noticeable in the best players in the world. But we have also seen the best players fall in the deep in front of our very eyes. You ask what courses that? Well various reasons would explain that, maybe fatigue or injury, or what so ever. But yet from the most consistent players you will notice the constant hunger for a win. I could simply conclude that the drive comes from a hunger to do their best every time they hit the field. It comes from a desire to be the best player for themselves, teammates and the fans
Mental ability is as important as motivation in the sport of soccer. A lot of the most important attributes of a world class soccer player are instinctive, composed, quickness in reaction and awareness. Different training programs are used to increase these qualities. One of the most effective is a board on which is mounted in several lights that switch on and off randomly and a players task is to touch them as soon as they come on. There are many other methods implemented to develop a player’s mentality. Ambition is the fuel and one of the building blocks in making a world class player.
The great thing about the sport is that everybody has an opinion because the nature of the sport is a spectator sport more than it is for the players.
