Tim Tebow has "IT' as one NFL commentator puts it. Most conventional football fanatics cannot explain what 'it' is but whatever 'it' is; He keeps leading the Broncos to the most unlikely of wins. Thursday night was no different as the Broncos took on the loud mouthed, trash talking New York Jets.
Many gave the Broncos little chance of taking down one of the better defensive teams in the league, especially with their nearly unheard of pass starved attack. The Jets pride themselves on being a tough run stopping team and with their top notch corner backs namely Darelle Revis, forcing opponent quaterbacks to thin twice about tossing it down the field. Tebow and his Broncos seemingly were just going too have many questions to answer. In fact Revis proclaimed before the game that he would be bored on Thursday night by the Broncos offense but how he must be dreading those words now.
In what could be considered an ugly game, both teams struggled early on offense as both teams had terrible third down conversions and struggled to move the ball against each other's defense with both teams settling for first half field goals to get the scoring started. The Jets started the second half with more intent as they drove with purpose down the field to inside the 10 yard line, when they scored the games first touchdown from the most unlikely of sources. Bilal Powell seemed to be stone wall in trying to drive into the endzone on a rushing play but was stripped and as the ball snuck into the endzone, Matt Slauson must have thought Santa came a month or so early and promptly dived onto the ball for the games first score while most Bronco defenders were totally oblivious of the fumble. The Jets stopped the Broncos on their ensuing drive and one would have thought that it was only a matter of time before the Jets would pull away. Andre Goodman had other ideas and played villan when he intercepted a Mark Sanchez pass and strolled untouched for a 26 yard pick six. That put the Broncos on level terms and put the raucos mile high crowd into a frenzy.
The deciding quarter sawthe Jets kick a field goal to take a 3 point lead with 9 minutes remaining. They seemed on course for the win as both teams were still struggling on offense and with just under 6 minutes left in the game they presented Tebow with a 95 yard field challenge to win the game. Most pundits would have considered the game done and dusted but never say die Tebow had other ideas as he lead his team on 5 minute drive which he capped himself with a gritty 20 yard run for a touchdown on 3 and 4 with New York calling an all out blitz. This left the Jets with 56 seconds to engineer an improbable comeback but the Broncos defense held firm and gave the Broncos their fourth win against one defeat with Tebow at the helm.
Say what you want about Tebow about his lack of throwing presence and all his flaws with his mechanics but this guy knows how to motivate his team to get the most important stat which is the WIN. The game before he only completed 2 of his 8 passes and Thursday night he went for 9 of 20 for a measly 104 yards but when the game is on the line he is showing the penchant for getting it done. Now he has the Broncos at 5-5 and with a legitimate shot of winning the Afc west and getting his team to the playoffs. Whatever 'it' is Tim Tebow has 'IT'
Glad to see someone else writing about sports on here. It was just me for a while. Good job.
