The Detroit Lions Are Finally Standing Tall

The talk around the NFL has been a little different this year about the Lions, than in the past. The Detroit Lions finished with a 10-6 record this season, second only to the Green Bay Packers. The Lions have finally turned their team around considering how horrible they have performed in the last ten years. The last time they were even considered a good team was in 2000, they finished 9-7. It has been a long-time for this team and clearly this year they have proved that they are back in the winning column.

The Lions are finally contenders again and fans in Detroit are ecstatic about it. The last-time these fans had something to cheer about it was Barry Sanders leading the cheers. However, with their new franchise quarterback Matthew Stafford playing outstanding football the cheers are back again. Stafford passed for an amazing 5,038 yards this season and 41 touchdowns to just 16 interceptions. Very respectable numbers and don't forget this kid is just 24 years-old. Remember, Tom Brady had not even thrown a pass in the NFL at 24 years-old.

You really have to take a step back and realize what this young man is accomplishing. This is no fluke either, the Lions have many weapons in their arsenal and are a well-balanced team. We all know how explosive their offensive is and we are beginning to realize how strong their defense is becoming. Although, the defense was not as consistent as the offense was this season. That is something that they have to work on in the off-season and they will comeback much-stronger next season.

Although, the Lions had a great season there are some area's they have to improve on. Mainly, the big one is discipline because their were a few incidents this year when players lost their composure and acted out. These incidents might of cost the Lions a few wins and evidently they lost some of their momentum. Of course, every-one remembers the Ndamukong Suh incident and his suspension hurt the Lions in the long-run. Players making careless judgement calls like these must-be resolved in the future in order for the Lions to advance to the Super Bowl.

The Lions were also missing some key players at the end of the season due to injuries. Jim Schwarz the Lions head-coach vows that next year will be even better. He was-convinced that if they had those injured players in the playoffs, the outcome might-of-been a lot different. With the up-coming draft next year the Lions will develop several key players to increase their chances and transcend to another level.

In conclusion, the Lions proved this year that they are a big threat in the NFC and will be in the playoffs again next year. The Saints knocked them out this year, but the Saints were a formidable team as well. Keep in mind, the Lions could-of-won that game against the Saints if they held on to a few key interceptions. Nevertheless, that is all what ifs and we will have to wait until next year to see if the Lions can get retribution.

Street Talk

The Lions have much to be proud of they are finally out of the cellar. I like this article, just would of been better if you mentioned Megatron. I do understand though, the format confuses the hell out of me. I have tried to submit a few articles and I keep screwing up. I am not that great of writer so I just outsource now its much easier.

The Lions are finally back in the win column its exciting, I am a huge Lions fan and this is the first article I have seen written about them and it was a good one, man. Megatron is going to break every receiving record if he stays healthy and has Stafford throwing to him all his career. The Lions have a great chance of going to the SB next year and I will take that bet.

We've waited for years for a winning season. Injuries slowed them down during and at the end especially in the running game and the defensive backfield. You get a tweet my friend just for even talking about the Lions. Megetron his receiver should have been mentioned here with his abilities. Matthew turns 24 I believe 02/07.

Yeah the Lions were very impressive this year, it was a longtime coming. I know I wanted to mention Megatron, but that was almost another paragraph and the format would of been too long. I was trying to look for a place to squeeze it in, but he deserves much more than that with the season he had. I am going to write a part 2 to this article and dedicate it to Megatron, in honor of you my friend.
