World\'s Best Football Goals - Premiership

This year is the 20th anniversary of the premiership and we have seen some outstanding classy goals from some of the world’s best footballers. Here is a breakdown of some of the worlds best footballs goals from the premiership:

Matt Le Tissier vs Newcastle

Southampton took on Newcastle back in 1993 when Le Tissier flicked the ball over not one, but two Newcastle defenders before slotting in a low shot. An attacking mid-fielder with exceptional skill, Le Tisser was the first midfielder to score 100 goals in the premiership. A true Southampton legend, Le Tissier remained with the saints for his entire professional career turning down offers from other clubs.

Tony Yeboah vs Liverpool

In August 1995 Leeds took on Liverpool and Yeboah scored an explosive long range blast against the reds. Leeds won the match 1-0. This was only Yeboah's second match for the club. Few other players have ever made such an impact in there first season for a club like Tony Yeboah did.

David Beckham vs Wimbledon

Before a marriage to a Spice Girl and fights with Fergie, David Beckham scored a spectacular goal against Wimbledon in August 1996. United were leading the match 2-0 when Beckham noticed that the dons goalkeeper Neil Sullivan was standing a long way out of his goal, he hit his shot from the halfway line which floated into the back of the net. He became a household name; the rest they say is history...

Eric Cantona vs Sunderland

Manchester United were entertaining Sunderland in December 1996 when Eric Canton chipped in a fantastic goal into the top corner of the net. A sublime strike from the iconic Frenchman, saw him run from the halfway line, play a one-two with Brian McClair and then put the ball over the keeper. Affectionately know as "King Eric" from the united fans, he won four premiership titles in five years and two league and FA cup doubles with the red devils. Magnifique!

Paolo Di Canio vs Wimbledon

In March 2000 West Ham United were entertaining Wimbledon when in 9th minute Di Canio scored what would become the goal of the season with an airborne volley. West Ham went on to win the match 2-1. The Italian was voted Hammer of the year by the clubs fans and his goal was named premiership goal of the decade in December 2009.

Alan Shearer vs Everton

Newcastle was trailing Everton 0-1 in December 2002, with only 6 minutes to go Shearer cracked in a stunning volley to level the score. Newcastle went onto win 2-1. Shearer is one of the most prolific scorers of all time and this wonder goal will surely go down as his greatest. After the first 10 years of the premiership, Shearer was named as the most outstanding player of the decade and is also listed in FIFA's 100 greatest living footballers.

Dennis Bergkamp vs Newcastle

In March 2002 Bergkamp scored the sweetest of goals against Newcastle; with a turn on the edge of the box it was straight in the back of the net. The gunners went onto win the match 0-2. Bergkamp is regarded as one of the best players of his generation and was listed by Pele in FIFA's 100 greatest players.

Steven Gerrard vs Middlesbrough

Liverpool was trailing 0-1 against Middlesbrough when Steven Gerrard produced a wonder goal in April 2005. Middlesbrough's goal keeper Brad Jones had no chance to save this strike from Stevie G which could easily go down as goal of the millennium. The Kop erupted in joy when Gerrard put the ball in the back of the net to share the points with Middlesbrough.

Wayne Rooney vs Manchester City

He fires thunderbolts seemingly at will and this match was no different for Wayne Rooney when Man United took on Man City. The striker launched an acrobatic overhead kick that rocked Old Trafford and that won him goal of season in 2010/2011. He is England’s youngest ever scorer and now aged 26, I'm sure "Wazza" is not done yet.

Bring on the 2012 / 2013 season!
