True Friends Are Hard To Come By
In the open wilderness along with beauty elements of hard rains, rolling thunder the bolts of lighting Re all around. The predator looks for the next meal or to capture its prize.
A mustang runs the distance alone no other horses in site, She is the last one left. she searches for a shelter to protect her from the elements and the thieves. She hungers for the companionship of her soul. To wander and explore the prairie to play among themselves in a safety they created. She has survived because she has sustain much pain and strengthened by loss and out witted the perpetrators. But she is alone now. She loves the beauty that surrounds her and doesn't take it for granted. Eats what she needs to survive, takes nothing in greed. Admires those creatures that are not the same as her, she enjoys they are different and sometimes complexes. She accepts them.
Coming toward her an unrecognized stranger beholds her., hold up food that smells so sweet. She gradually gets close analysis the situation . The mustang runs in circles and kicks high to warn she is uneasy with him. It is a boy he makes soothing sounds and make her feel safe. she get closer. She begins to trust nervously but she does just the same. She is with in reaching distance and he touches her and feeds her while stroking her shiny coat . Trust is given between the two of them.. He makes leave in his truck and she follows. He drives slowly and she stays with him for hours. until they arrive at his ranch. The ranch has an expansive coral with everything the mustang could want easily accessible food, fresh water continuously flowing. New grass, fresh hay smells of oats fill the air and the boys affection. She feels safe she enters through the gates . Her days are full she lets him ride her together the explore among the creatures and terrain. He pets her admiringly she rubs her head along the side of his body with affection to show she is contented with him. At night they are among the glowing moon and glistening stars. and the sounds of night life all around them. They sometimes fall asleep there together. She is where she wants to be.
Time goes on and situations change. But as long as she feels safe she stays and adores her keeper, but now the food is no longer there her friend has weaken to other attractions he is drunk all the time and he is frustrated by greed because he can not find another gold mustang like her. He wants as many of these beautiful creatures as he can find. He wants them all. he wants to make a profit beyond his wildest dream. She tightens up in side as she witnesses the changes. She feels a restlessness in side that tears at her heart the is pain is dull and sinking. She feels betrayed with imprisonment and an occasional crack of a whip or a kick in her side.
She wants to hurt him back but she is not seeking revenge. So she saddens and feels the perfect life she once knew gradually drift away. Again an emptiness consumes her and she feels alone only this time alone and trapped. The gates and fence around the coral are strongly built. But each day she looks for a weak spot and kicks away at it because the coral seems to feel smaller with each passing day. He doesn't know she is trying to escape she out wits him and waits for him to drink and pass out.
Then in a moonless night she breaks through she runs through the night not stopping not looking back smelling the familiar smell of freedom she treks on. She travels further then she ever. So not to be found, She hasn't seen human life for days she is so far away from human life that its obvious no man has ever walked here. She is hungry but she gladly forages for food and appreciates that she is safe and free from pain. The loneliness slips into a respected acceptance of her environment.She will not be so trusting in the future. She lives out her live still missing the love and companionship, but instead enjoys the adventures of the day, realizes that she would give up all this adventure, peace, beauty and even her freedom for those nurtured days at the coral. The silvery moon that glowed and those glistening stars shared with a friend will always be missed. Her perfect life goes on. Love and companionship was the only thing her paradise was missing.
